Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSL), a 10+2 level exam, for recruiting the vacant central government positions of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and other Group C vacancies at ministries of Government of India. SSC CSHL Tiers

SSC CHSL is carried out in three tiers or levels namely, Tier1, Tier 2 and Tier 3:

  • Tier 1: It is a preliminary exam on the following four topics – English, General Intelligence, General Awareness and Quantitative Aptitude. Each of these sections in Tier 1 contains 20 question with 50 marks in each section. So in total, candidates need to attempt 100 questions in one hour.
  • Tier 2: It is the descriptive round in which candidates need to attempt only 2 questions based on essay and letter writing.  This round is of 100 marks with 50 marks for each question.
  • Tier 3: This round is for skill testing. Candidates need to write 8,000 characters from the keyword of computer. Then for English language they should have the speed of 35 words in a minute. For Hindi language, they should have the speed of 30 words in a minute.
