SSC JE 2017 Post Wise Cutoff

SSC JE Cutoff is the minimum marks that a candidate needs to obtain for provisional allotment. SSC JE post wise cutoff marks against each category for the various post depends on the number of vacancies and preferences given by candidates. The Commission will release SSC JE Cutoff for Paper 1 in March 2017 along with the declaration of result. Approximately 3 lakhs candidates appeared in the previous year SSC JE exam. SSC JE cutoff score is determined for selecting shortlisted candidates for the next rounds of selection process.

SSC JE 2017 Expected Cutoff

SSC JE comprises two papers- paper 1 & paper 2. Paper 1 will be of 300 marks and objective in nature. The paper 2 will be of 100 marks and descriptive in nature. SSC JE cut off 2017 is expected to be a bit more than of the previous year.

Factors Affecting SSC JE Cutoff

The following factors affect the SSC JE Cutoff -

  • Number of candidates – The cut off increases with a rise in the number of candidates appearing for exam.
  • Number of seats – As the number of seat increases, cut off decreases.
  • Marking scheme – The negative marking also affects the cut off.
  • Reservation norms – with increasing reservation norms cut off increases too.
  • Exam difficulty – the level of difficulty plays a vital role in deciding the cut off. If the paper is easy, then cut off would be high and if it is difficult then cut off would be low.
  • Relative performance of the candidates – The cut off mark is also decided by how candidates perform in different categories.

Tie Breaking

In case, if more than one candidate will attain the same marks in SSC JE 2017 exam then the below listed factors to be considered as a tie breaker. This cases will be resolved by applying following methods as mentioned below:

  • The total marks secured in the written test and personal interview
  • Merit on the basis of marks in paper I and paper II.
  • Candidates with older age will be preferred for the post
  • The candidates have to appear in alphabetical order in their first names.

Significance of SSC JE Cutoff

  • SSC JE cut off is applied in the form of marks.
  • It is a terminating factor which restricts the candidates for the further stage.
  • It is mandatory that the candidates must have obtained minimum qualifying marks.
  • The cut off is applied to the scores obtained in the examination. After that, cumulative cut off is used.
