    SSC JE 2018 Application Form will have to be filled by candidates online. The application forms will be available from the 2nd week of September 2017. Candidates with a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering are eligible to apply for SSC JE exam.

    • The exam is divided into two stages, which are Part-1 and Part-2.
    • Candidates who qualify Part-1 will be eligible for appearing in Part-2.
    • Candidates will be short listed according to their performance in Part-1 and Part-2.

    Candidates will have to fill in necessary details pertaining to their personal and academic qualifications.

    Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts SSC JE (Staff Selection Commission Juniour Engineers) examination. Candidates appearing for this examination are recruited for the post of Junior Engineers and Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts by the Commission.

    Dates for SSC JE 2018 Application Form

    Candidates must note that the application for SSC JE 2018 can only be done online only and no other offline mode of registration would be available or applicable. The following table lists down the important dates that are important to SSC JE and candidates need to keep these in mind while applying for SSC JE 2018.

    Candidates must note that the dates given above are tentative dates only and are subject to change by the exam conducting body. Candidates are advised to keep a check on the official Staff Selection Commission website for any sort of notification related to change of dates or other.


    SSC JE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates will be eligible to apply for SSC JE 2018 based on three broad categories - their Nationality, their Educational Qualification and their Age.

    NationalityA candidate has to be a citizen of India or any one from the following to be eligible for SSC JE 2018:
    • Subject to Nepal
    • Subject to Bhutan
    • Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 to be permanent residents
    • A person of Indian origin migrated from Burma or East African countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire or Vietnam to be a permanent resident of India
    Educational QualificationEligibility based on candidates’ educational qualification will be different for each different position that candidate applies for.
    • Junior Engineer (Civil), CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute
    • Junior Engineer (Electrical), CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute
    • Junior Engineer (Civil), Department of Posts – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute
    • Junior Engineer (Electrical), Department of Posts- B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Electrical engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute
    • Junior Engineer (Civil), MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute and with 2 years of work experience in civil engineering works
    • Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or 3 years Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute of repute and with 2 years work experience in electrical or mechanical engineering works
    • Junior Engineer (QS&C), MES – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute or Passed Intermediate examination in Building and Quantity Surveying (Sub Divisional-II) from the Institute of Surveyors (India)
    • Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical), Central Water Commission – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University or Institute of repute
    AgeStaff Selection Commission has clearly mentioned the upper and lower age limits for SSC JE on their official website. Candidates must follow these to avoid their application from being rejected:
    • For the post of Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical), Central Water Commission and CPWD candidate’s age should be a maximum of 32 years
    • For the post of Junior Engineer (Civil and Electrical), Department of Post and Junior Engineer (Surveying and contract), MES candidate’s age should be a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 27 years
    • For the post of Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical & Mechanical), MES candidate’s age should be a maximum of 30 years
    Candidates must note that age relaxation in terms of the upper age limit for reserved category candidates will be applicable as per the reservation rules of the Government.

    SSC JE 2018 Application Form

    Registration Prerequisites

    Before starting with the registration process, candidates must see to it that they have the following ready to avoid any hassle during application:

    • A valid, working email ID
    • A scanned version of a passport size photo with dimensions as specified
    • A scanned image of candidate’s signature with dimensions as specified
    • Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking details in case candidate is opting for online payment
    • The correct equivalent percentage of qualifying marks if candidate’s qualifying exam had grade/CPGA
    • Any past work experience details needed for the post candidate is applying for

    Filling out the Application Form for SSC JE 2018  

    Candidates can fill up SSC JE 2018 Application Form online. They need to follow the steps listed below to complete their application process.

    Step 1: Candidates will have to visit the official SSC JE website www.ssconline.nic.in. In case they face any problem, they can visit www.ssconline2.gov.in.

    Step 2: Candidates will now have to register with a valid email id and password.

    Step 3: Candidates will now have to fill in all personal and academic details as asked in the application form.

    Step 4: Candidates will now have to upload a recent passport size photograph and a scanned copy of their signature.

    Guidelines for Photograph and Signature

    Candidates have to upload a scanned image of his/her passport size photograph and signature as per the required specifications set by SSC JE conducting body. The scanner resolution should be set to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch) for the best results.

    • Candidates need to upload a recently clicked passport size photograph, It should be a coloured image and clicked against a light-coloured or white background
    • Candidates must ensure that the image is a front-faced photo. Angular photos and images with red eye will not be accepted.
    • Candidates must note that squint-eyed photos will not be accepted.
    • In case a candidate is wearing spectacles, he/she must make sure that there is no reflection on the glasses and their eyes can be seen clearly.
    • Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed however it must not cover candidate’s face.
    • Dimensions of the picture should be 100 x 120 pixels.
    • Size of file should be between 4 kb to 12 kb.
    • File format should be strictly in .jpg.

    Signature Image

    • The signature should be done on white paper in black inked pen only.
    • The signature will be used to put on SSC JE Hall Ticket and other places where necessary.
    • The dimensions of the signature image should be 140 x 60 pixels only.
    • The size of file should be between 1 kb and 12 kb.
    • The file format should strictly be in .jpg.

    Step 5: Candidates will now have to pay the application fee. Candidates can pay the fee either online through credit card, debit card or net banking or through offline mode with an eChallan.

    Step 6: There will be 2 parts in the application process. Candidates who have filled Part 1 and have paid the application fee will be able to proceed to Part 2 of the application process.

    Step 7: Candidates will have to click on the Submit button to complete their application process. Candidates are advised to thoroughly check all details before submitting the form because no changes will be allowed after that.

    Application Fee 

    Candidates applying for SSC JE 2018 will have to pay the application fee for their application to be deemed valid. Candidates can pay the fee either online through credit card, debit card or net banking or through offline mode with an eChallan.

    The application fee is ₹ 100. Women, ex-servicemen and other reserved category candidates are exempted from paying this application fee.


    SSC JE 2018 Application Form Correction

    Candidates can expect that it will be allowed to edit their application form for a limited period of time. It can be done by logging in with candidate’s login ID and password. However, this will be at the discretion of Staff Selection Commission. Only the following information will be available to be edited:

    • Education Details
    • University Details
    • Contact Number
    • Email Address
    • Category

    Candidates must note that once they have paid the application fee, SSC JE online form cannot be edited. After completing the payment, candidates can also add additional courses of their choice by paying an additional amount of same fee. They can however not exceed three courses.

    Hi Samiksha, no, candidates who have done engineering in electrical or civil or mechanical branch are only eligible for this exam.
