NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
Admit card for UGC NET 2017 will be available to download from December 21, 2016. CBSE holds this NET exam on behalf of UGC to select eligible candidates for the posts of Junior Research Fellowship and for Assistant Professor in Indian Universities. The exam is scheduled to take place on January 22, 2017.
Date of application for UGC NET 2017 expired on November 23, 2016. Furthermore, the official website of the exam was catering to the candidates who wished to rectify or make changes to their initial application. This facility was operational from a week, from November 28, 2016 to December 3, 2016. The next step in the process is the release of admit card, which according to the UGC NET 2017 circular shall begin on December 21, 2016. It can be downloaded from the official website of the exam.
To download the CBSE UGC NET 2017 Admit card candidate must follow these steps:
Applicants are encouraged to verify the details present on the admit card. Since this admit card has to be produced at the examination center, it is imperative that details on the admit card, (such as name, photograph, examination center, time, roll number etc) are present and correct. Without admit card, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
Admit card also contains instructions and rules for CBSE UGC NET 2017. It’d be wise for candidates to go through it. The candidates will have to mark the response for the questions of Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided along with the Test Booklet. Remaining Information regarding OMR sheet will again provided on Admit Card.

National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted to award eligible Indian nationals Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) which enables them to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject. Additionally, qualification of NET examination also opens door for a candidate to be employed as Assistant Professor at Indian universities and colleges. Certain universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The exam is conducted in three sessions and qualification depends solely on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET.
All the three sessions take place on the same day and consist of only objective type questions. The first two sessions will be of 100 marks and candidates will be required to complete the exam within the allotted time of 1 hour and 15 minutes. While the first session shall contain General Aptitude, Test comprising of questions related to reasoning, mental ability and general awareness, the second session shall be MCQ with 50 compulsory questions. Third and last session will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate and each question will carry two marks. Time allotted to complete the last exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
