SSC CGL 2018 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
The SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam held on November 30, 2016 across the country is announced cancelled for 13 venues due to mismanagement and inefficiency. The exam was scheduled from November 30 to December 02, 2016. SSC declared that the examination will be re-conducted for those 13 centers. Although earlier reports gave evidence of cheating and malpractice, it was later cleared that the problem was the insufficiency of computer systems and connections.
The Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission released an official notice in regards to the irregularities reported by the candidates after the exam was held in the test centers. The notice reveals that on the first day of the SSC CGL, 74,498 candidates had appeared at 351 test centers across 57 cities. The exam was held successfully in the first session for 69,600 candidates at 338 venues. The second session conducted successful exams for 69,730 candidates at 343 test centers.
The news of the irregularities spread when a video clip went viral on the social media that was allegedly shot inside an online test center. Upon the conclusion of the first shift of CGL tire 2 exam, many candidates complained of wide irregularities throughout the exam. Candidates complained that some candidates were denied from giving the examination, while some reported that there were no SSC officials or invigilators present in the exam room. This is the second time CGL exams face allegations of malpractice, as the CGL tier 1 exam that was held in August also faced allegations of a paper leak.
The video that went viral showed the absence of any invigilator or test official, along with candidates discussing in groups, some candidates giving exam for someone else, etc. It was later revealed that the video was shot after the exam was suspended due to the technical reasons, but the video had already made its way to popular social media like YouTube and Facebook. The video was being shared exponentially at the famous Facebook page ‘SSC Tube’ where the candidates were expressing their anger and frustration at the lack of management from SSC’s side.
The following are the 13 venues where the examination will be held again following the SSC Notice:
|Ghaziabad (3 centers)||Allahabad (2 centers)||Delhi (2 centers)|
|Ranchi||Navi Mumbai||Greater Noida|
As of now, the impact of the irregularities seems to be contained in the 13 test centers with the problem, and the progress of the tier 2 exam appears to be constant for the rest of the country. CGL has been the most sought after exam for the candidates who wish to enter the government sector after their graduation. The result was the appearance of 14.82 lakh candidates for tier 1 exam, out of which around 1.5 lakh were declared qualified for the tier 2 exam. SSC assured candidates that the problem will be fixed at the earliest and that candidates can rely on the fairness of the SSC CGL examination.
SSC has declared the fresh dates for the re-exam, as on January 12, 13, 2017 (tentative). Candidates are advised not to worry about the dates but instead use the extra time to prepare for the exam. The level of difficulty of the reconduct is hard to predict right now. It is assumed to be of the same level as the previous SSC CGL Tier 2 sessions.
