STATE LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
Karnataka PGCET is a state level entrance examination conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Candidates seeking admissions into the full time/part time MBA/MCA/M. Arch/M. Tech/ME and 2nd year (lateral entry) of the MCA program can apply for the exam. Candidates with valid GATE scores and seeking admission into M. Arch/ME/M. Tech programs are exempted from taking the entrance test. However, it is mandatory for such candidates to fill the application form and fulfil the eligibility conditions as well as meet the cut-off score. In this article, we discuss the exact guidelines laid down by KEA for GATE qualified candidates.

It is worthwhile to mention here that GATE Score is considered valid if, at the time of application, the test was taken less than 3 years back. For example, if a candidate appeared for GATE in 2016, then his score will be considered valid for admission in 2018. However, apart from the score being valid, it should also meet the specific cut-off for the particular program.
Karnataka PGECET participating educational establishments like VTU, UBDT and UVCE offer more than 100 ME/M. Tech programs in various Engineering and Technology disciplines. It also offers four M. Arch programs and one MBA in Infrastructure Management program. The eligibility guidelines for GATE qualified candidates are:
A candidate holding a valid GATE score that meets the cut-off criteria is exempted from appearing in Karnataka PGECET for admission in ME/M. Arch/M. Tech provided he/she meets all other eligibility conditions laid down by the KEA. Tabulated below is the general eligibility criteria applicable for GATE Qualified candidates:
|Domicile||The candidates should be domicile residents of Karnataka.|
|Academic||Candidates should have completed B. Tech/BE/B. Arch program from a university recognized by the KEA.|
|Qualifying Score||Candidates should have secured an overall aggregate of 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates) in the final qualifying examination.|
|GATE||Valid GATE Score that matches the KEA Cut-Off specifications|
Candidates willing to pursue the afore-mentioned programs in the part-time mode needs to have a work experience of not less than 3 years in a single organization as on July 31 of the year of admission in addition to all the general eligibility criteria. Also, the candidate’s present work-place should be situated within a radial distance of 40 km from the institution in which admission is being sought. Part-time program applicants also need to submit a filled-in NOC duly signed by the competent authority. Please note, M. Tech program in the part-time program shall be conducted only if the number of candidates enrolled is at least eight or more.
GATE Scholarships are awarded by AICTE. KEA has no role in the awarding or disbursal of the scholarships. Applications for GATE Scholarships are processed by respective colleges/institutions where the applicant has enrolled. The guidelines for applying for GATE Scholarship are:
