LPU Scholarships for CBSE XII Graduates, JEE Main Rankers and Others

With the recent release of Class XIIth and JEE Mains results, many of the students would be at the crossroads of deciding where to start their post-school education from. Not only finding the right institution becomes a deciding factor, but also the cost of studying plays a major role in it. This problem can be solved if you have to right type of scholarship available for the choice of your program.

Lovely Professional University offers scholarships to its students on merit-based and need-based criteria. Through its scholarship facility for Class XIIth Meritorious Passouts, JEE Main Rank Holders and others, LPU tries to invest in all those students who are either exemplary performers or are facing constraints due to inadequate funds for their studies, both wanting to avail the opportunity of quality education.

In fact, LPU last year, offered scholarships of up to 5 lac per student, amounting to around 100+ crores, making education affordable and cost-effective for its students.


LPU Scholarship Categories 2019

At LPU, the candidates are awarded scholarships under any of the below-mentioned categories based on their performance:

1. Eligibility Qualification – After Class X, XII, Graduation or Lateral Entry Programmes

This LPU scholarship is based on the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in class 10th/ 12th/graduation and for lateral entry programmes. Candidates who have passed 10+2 will be given scholarship for undergraduate programs and candidates with UG degree will be eligible for availing scholarship for graduate programs.

2. National Level Tests – JEE (Main), JEE Main Paper II, CAT, etc.

In this, the university extends its Scholarship scheme to those candidates who have appeared for national level entrance exams. For example, a candidate who wants to apply for scholarship under a particular program is required to have appeared for the related Entrance Test with the desired percentile.

3. LPUNEST – LPU National Entrance & Scholarship Test

With a view to facilitating access to meritorious candidates, the university awards scholarships for specific programs on the basis of candidate’s performance in LPUNEST. It is based on 3 brackets which are:

  • Marks scored in LPUNEST are more than or equal to Category I cut off

  • Marks scored in LPUNEST are more than or equal to Category II cut off

  • Marks scored in LPUNEST are more than or equal to Category III cut off

Available scholarships are according to the following table:

Note:

Lovely Professional University offers scholarships in different phases in which the candidate applies for the university program. The above table represents admissions for the first phase. Consecutive phases of admission will take place based on the availability of seats but the amount of scholarship will be reduced with each passing phase.

4. Performance of the candidate in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service and Bravery Awards

Lovely Professional University believes in offering scholarships to all those who are achievers in the field of sports and other co-curricular activities but are facing financial stress in paying their education fees.

Some conditions which the candidates need to keep in mind while applying for Scholarships based on Performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service, Bravery Awards are the following:

  • Sports scholarships are not provided for programs after class 10th.

  • For Dual Degree programs, this type of scholarship can be continued to higher degree programs, subject to certain terms and conditions.

  • LPU offers free Transport Facility to its students in lieu of Free Residential Facility. Though, free food facility is not provided in such cases.

  • For offering TABS i.e. Trial/ Audition Based Scholarships, the university conducts trials according to the given schedule:

Schedule I - April 20 and April 21

Schedule II - May 26

Schedule III – June 23

Schedule IV - July 28

5. Defence and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Personnel and their Dependents

This form of fee rebate is given to the Serving Defence Personnel (nominated by study leave), Retired Defense Personnel, and their dependents who want to take admission in a regular programme (distance program not included). The amount of financial support varies from 20% - 50% tuition fee waiver, depending upon the category (A, B, C or D) in which the candidate falls. The currently serving Defence Personnel and Ret. Defence Personnel fall in A and B categories whereas the dependents of these soldiers are offered scholarships under C and D categories.

Eligibility Relaxation

1. Candidates will be given eligibility relaxation of 5% under all the categories and programs except for those programs where regulatory bodies have put a restriction for any relaxation.

2. All the interested serving officers falling under category A and B will be exempted from appearing in any of the entrance tests or interviews (except for Ph.D. and LLM programmes)

3. This scholarship will be given for the full term of the program.

6. Education Board Toppers

This monetary benefit of a full programme fee waiver is offered to top 20 rank holders of every recognized school board divided in A, B and C categories. It includes the following facilities:

a. Full Programme Fee waiver (Including Examination Fee), and

b. Free Stay in four-seater room (Air Cooled Room) in hostel Or Free Transport Facility

Categories for Board Toppers

Category A: One Rank One Student

In this, the board will consider top 20 rank holders for the scholarship.

Category B: One Rank Multiple Students

  • If the candidates are less than or equal to 20 in the merit list, then the board will consider all of them for awarding the scholarship.

  • In case there are more than 20 candidates in the merit list, the scholarship will be extended to only those students who will secure not less than 97% marks and such students will not be more than 200 from the merit list.

LPU Scholarship

Category C: Open Board

Here, the candidate must have obtained at least 90% marks for getting considered in the merit list.

7. Scholarship/ Fee Benefit for PhD

Type 1

PhD scholarships are offered to the candidates on the basis of their performance in LPUNEST (PhD), and based on that the toppers are given a scholarship of Rs. 60,000 (max.).The cut off for the scholarship is announced along with the declaration of result.

Note:

1. The candidates who will seek exemption from appearing in LPUNEST (PhD) test on the basis of UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF)/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) examination/ SLET (Punjab only)/ GATE/ GPAT/ ICAR (NET), Teacher Fellowship holder or passed M Phil programme will be required to mandatorily appear for it, if they want to avail this facility of scholarship.

2. The candidates will be intimated about their scholarship result along with the interview result.

Type 2

The university offers 70% of scholarship to its candidates with affiliations and research outcomes. Candidates from Centrally Funded Research Labs/ Industry Professionals/ Teaching Fraternity etc. are considered under these scholarships.

#Additional Teaching Fellowship of Rs. 15,600 will be made available to the candidates who will qualify the eligibility criteria.

2. The candidate’s GATE score should be valid at the time of admission

3. A candidate applying from any of the above categories or anywhere from LPU, he/she will be given wfalling in any of the above category.

4. At the time of confusion, the decision of Head, Centre for Research Degree Programmes will be considered full and final.

LPU Scholarships: Special Cases

1. Scholarship for Orphan Applicants

Lovely Professional University grants scholarships to orphan applicants on 1st come 1st serve basis. At max. 10 orphan students every year are extended this scholarship, subject to certain terms and conditions.

2. Scholarship for persons with Certain Disability

In order to make provisions for higher education to candidates suffering from benchmark disability and locomotor disability caused due to Spiral Cord Injury, the university gives scholarship in the form of full programme fee waiver. This financial help is given to a maximum of 20 such students every year on first come first serve basis.


LPU Scholarship Brackets

Every LPU scholarship category is divided under 3 brackets – Bracket 1, 2 and 3. Each bracket denotes a specific criterion, and the candidate has to fulfil that criteria to fall in that bracket. Falling in 1st bracket represents you meet the maximum requirement, with bracket 2 and 3 representing relatively lesser amount of scholarship.


LPU Scholarship Phases

The amount of scholarship offered is dependent on the phase in which the candidate takes admission. For example, Phase I is conducted from January till April. Phase II, III and IV are conducted depending on the availability of seats. The amount of scholarship gets reduced with each passing phase and phase IV doesn’t have the availability of any scholarship, if conducted.
