NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Indian Maritime University conducts an annual, national level entrance exam, IMU Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The entrance exam grants students’ admission to courses offered by its five campuses (Cochin, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Vishakhapatnam). The exam will be held in the last week of May 2018 (tentative).
IMU CET 2018 Application Form will be available from the last week of March 2018 and the process will continue till the first week of May 2018 (tentatively). Candidates will have to visit the IMU CET website to fill out the application form.

Candidates must note that the dates mentioned above are tentative and are subjected to change at the discretion of the exam conducting body, Indian Maritime University. Candidates are advised to visit the official website of the university on a regular basis to keep a track of the dates and keep themselves updated with the exam process and dates.
Candidates who are seeking admission to Indian Maritime University through IMU CET must keep the following eligibility criteria in mind. They must note that failing to fulfill the eligibility criteria would lead the concerned exam conducting authority to cancel their application at any point of the examination process.
The detailed eligibility criteria are mentioned as follows:
|DNS||Pass 10+2/ equivalent examination with PCM and English.(PCM: 60%). ORB.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year.OR B.E/B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year. AND The candidates should have obtained 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th Std. or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University. 5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST category candidates.|

Candidates need to apply for IMU CET 2018 through online mode only. Candidates must note that no mode of offline application would be entertained or is valid for IMU CET. IMU CET 2018 will allow students to appear for the entrance exam for the following courses:
Candidates must keep their academic certificates, mark sheet and other documents ready with them for reference purpose when they sit to fill out the application form. Candidates can make an application to IMU CET 2018 by following the steps mentioned below.

Candidates have to click on the submit button to submit their application. Candidates will get a registration or application number which would be generated after they have successfully submitted their application form. Candidates should note down this number for all future reference and correspondence.
Candidates must note that they can make changes to the application form as many times as they want before submitting it and paying the application fee. No changes will be allowed once the candidate has submitted his / her application form.
Admit cards for IMU CET 2018 exam would be published on the official website from the 2nd week of May, 2018 onwards. Candidates will be able to download their admit card as soon as they are published by the official exam conducting body. Candidates will have to log in to the official Indian Maritime University website using their application or registration number and password in order to download their admit cards. Candidates must check the following on their admit card and alert the exam authorities in case of any discrepancy:
Candidates are advised to take multiple copies of their IMU CET 2018 admit card and keep them safely. They will have to carry the admit card with them at every stage of the admission process. Candidates must keep in mind that only the candidate can use his / her admit card. It is a legally punishable offence to impersonate and use someone else’s admit card.

Candidates would be allowed to take IMU CET 2018 exam at the center of their choice. They have to choose their preferred exam center while filling up the application form. The exam can be taken at following centers:
IMU CET 2018 exam is conducted in online mode only. There would be 200 MCQ type questions that would be asked from areas like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, GK, English, and Aptitude.

Candidates must note that for MBA, questions based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will not be asked but questions based on aptitude and general knowledge will be given stress on.
The syllabus of IMU CET 2018 exam would be similar to the Class XI and Class XII syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, GK, English, and aptitude of CBSE/ ISC/ State Boards. Candidates can refer to the books that are prescribed for their Class XI and XII academic curriculum or can take reference from the books for other national level entrance exam like JEE Main, JEE Advanced and BITSAT etc. for preparation of IMU CET 2018.
For General Knowledge and aptitude portion in MBA and other courses, candidates can refer books Like Lucent General Knowledge and RS Aggarwal quantitative aptitude respectively. For MBA, candidates should stress on general knowledge and current affairs related to economics and business.

IMU CET 2018 Result will be declared on the official Indian Maritime University website www.imu.ac.in. The candidate will have to enter his / her registration number to check the results. The results will be available for download in the pdf format only. Candidates are advised to download this score card and print it out for all future references. The tentative date for announcement of IMU CET 2018 results is the last week of May, 2018.
Steps to download the score card for IMU CET 2018:
The candidates who will be shortlisted (either in 1st or 2nd list) would be called for counselling at the five campuses of IMU. Counselling would be done in online mode only and candidates would not be required to present themselves for the counselling at some centers. Seat allotment would be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in the CET exam plus his suitability based on physical, medical and other related standards. IMU requires eligible candidates to present physical fitness and eyesight fitness certificates to be able to sit for the online counselling. Indian Maritime University can debar a candidate from sitting for the online counselling if they find the candidate deemed unfit for the same.
Candidates will be required to pay a free of ₹ 10,000 to Indian Maritime Institute as counselling fees. Candidates must note that this fee is non refundable irrespective of the candidate’s admission status.
15% of seats are reserved for Indian Nationals belonging to eligible candidates from scheduled castes, 7.5% are reserved for eligible candidates from scheduled tribes and 27%seats are reserved for eligible candidates from other backward classes. For candidates from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, a relaxation of 5% is allowed on the marks.
Candidates must carry the following documents with them for verification purpose during the counseling round. Candidates are advised to carry at least two photocopies of each document for a hassle free counseling process.
