NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
VITEEE is a university level test conducted by VIT University for admission to B.Tech program offered at VIT Campuses located in Vellore, Chennai, Amravati and Bhopal. VITEEE 2019 exam will be conducted from April 05 to April 16, 2019 through computer-based mode. The registration for same will start in the first week of November 2018.

Candidates must go through the syllabus so that they can prepare well for the examination. Following are the complete details about the VITEEE Physics syllabus so that candidates prepare the topics and subjects well. This is a quite difficult section because candidates have to solve numerical very accurately within the specified time. That’s why candidates should prepare well to secure better marks in this section.
Before start preparation for the exam, candidates should know the proper syllabus of exam. The exam is divided into 4 sections i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics, English. Physics section carries 40 questions. Most of the questions of Physics section is based on numerical and remaining questions is concept based. These are the important topics of physics section. The highest number of the questions is based on these topics. That is why applicants are required to prepare well for these topics.

The Computer-based question paper for VITEEE 2019 is set on the syllabus of the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus only. Candidates can go through the VITEEE Syllabus provided below:
Current Electricity- This is a very important topic of Physics. Candidates need to more constraint on this topic. This is a time-consuming section. The questions of this section are based on graphs and diagrams that is why it can take some time to solve it.
Sub Topics- Flow of charges in a metallic conductor – drift velocity and mobility and their relation with electric current. Ohm’s law, electrical resistance - V-I characteristics – electrical resistivity and conductivity-classification of materials in terms of conductivity – Carbon resistors – color code for carbon resistors - combination of resistors – series and parallel – temperature dependence of resistance – internal resistance of a cell – potential difference and emf of a cell - combinations of cells in series and in parallel.
Kirchoff’s law – Wheatstone’s Bridge and its application for temperature coefficient of resistance measurement - Metrebridge - special case of Wheatstone bridge - Potentiometer principle - comparing the emf of two cells.
Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Current- This is a little tough topic. Electromagnetic induction is the production of an electromotive force i.e. voltage.
Sub Topics- Faraday’s law - induced emf and current - Lenz’s law. Self-induction – Mutual induction - self-inductance of a long solenoid - mutual inductance of two long solenoids. Methods of inducing emf - (i) by changing magnetic induction (ii) by changing area enclosed by the coil and (iii) by changing the orientation of the coil (quantitative treatment).
AC generator - commercial generator. (Single phase, three phase). Eddy current - applications - transformer - long distance transmission. Alternating current - measurement of AC - AC circuit with resistance - AC circuit with inductor - AC circuit with capacitor - LCR series circuit - Resonance and Q factor - power in AC circuits.
Magnetic effect of Current and Magnetism- The questions of this section is formula based. Candidates need to put formulas to solve the questions. And it will take some time.
Sub Topics- Magnetic effect of electric current – Concept of magnetic field - Oersted’s experiment – Biot-Savart Law Magnetic field due to an infinitely long current carrying straight wire and circular coil – Tangent galvanometer – construction and working – Bar magnet as an equivalent solenoid – magnetic field lines.
Ampere’s circuital law and its application. Force on a moving charge in uniform magnetic field and electric field – cyclotron – Force on current carrying conductor in a uniform magnetic field – Forces between two parallel current carrying conductors - definition of ampere.
Torque experienced by a current loop in a uniform magnetic field - moving coil galvanometer – conversion to ammeter and voltmeter – current loop as a magnetic dipole and its magnetic dipole moment - Magnetic dipole moment of a revolving electron.

Semiconductor Devices and Their Applications- The level of this topic is moderate. Semiconductor devices are electronic components. Semiconductor devices have replaced thermionic device in most applications.
Sub Topics- Semiconductor basics - energy band in solids: difference between metals, insulators and semiconductors - semiconductor doping - Intrinsic and Extrinsic semiconductors. Formation of P-N Junction - Barrier potential and depletion layer-P-N Junction diode - Forward and reverse bias characteristics - diode as a rectifier - Zener diode-Zener diode as a voltage regulator - LED. Junction transistors - characteristics - transistor as a switch - transistor as an amplifier - transistor as an oscillator.
Logic gates - NOT, OR, AND, EXOR using discrete components - NAND and NOR gates as universal gates - De Morgan’s theorem - Laws and theorems of Boolean algebra.
Practicing with books will be beneficially for candidates to be familiar with the exam. Books are the very important for good preparation. Candidates are required to refer good books for better preparation. These are the important books for VITEEE Preparation.

For the academic year 2019, VITEEE is held on April 05, to April 06, 2019. The exam will be scheduled via online mode in 3 shifts in a day. The question paper consists of 4 section i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology, and English. The total number of the questions is 125 and all the questions is in MCQ format. Candidates are required to complete their exam in 2 hours 30 minutes (190 Minutes). One mark will be awarded for every correct answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
