VITEEE 2019 NEWS
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Rohan cracked the VITEEE in 2012 and secured 2801 rank in it. He was offered admission from both the VIT campuses but he chose Vellore campus for his engineering studies. He says, firstly identify the strengths and weaknesses in the beginning so that during preparation one can focus and improvise on the weaker areas. Don’t be overconfident about the stronger sections, just polish them and practice regularly. Given below is the questionnaire that we had with him and he shares his thoughts on preparation tips.

Ans. I did a crash course for one month in Cambridge classes just after the board exams. Teachers were good and they cleared our few genuine concepts. As VITEEE covers most of the class 12th syllabus, so the board preparations did help. They kept us in motion but mainly it was my previous learning which helped a lot.
Ans. I didn’t prepare for VITEEE. I just prepared for class 12 board exams and that is all which came in exams. I don’t think there is a specific need of preparations for VITEEE if you are preparing for AIEEE (during that time). Just preparing for class 12 would be enough. Understanding every concept is important rather than going in too much detail.
Ans. I gave special hours to some of the formula based problems in physics and as usual in chemistry and mathematics.
My strength was Chemistry and Mathematics. So I ensured that I don’t lose any mark in chemistry. As chemistry is time saving if you know the answers or the tricks. Mathematics is totally on practice. Since I practiced very much I used to determine the time question will take. On the basis of it I used to attempt or leave the question.
Weakness: I was not that good in Physics. So I used to opt minimum damage policy. I don’t waste even single sec if I don’t get the question first time. In the end when the Chemistry and Mathematics were done I used to again read the questions of physics.

Ans. It is needless to mention, the amount and quality of resources available online is unmatched and therefore you can use those resources.
While you are solving previous years’ questions, for every question find the topics related to it and make sure you understand it. So in this way we move towards learning more important things.
Ans. I didn’t joined any test series. But I did solve previous years’ question banks of VITEEE which helped a lot. Also sometimes I used to solve MCQs from ABC and Pradeep (reference books). But there are some online mock series such as

Ans. I didn’t follow any specific website. But I used to download the notes and list of formulae for last minute preparations. But I can recommend
Ans. If you are studying for JEE:
I had ABC and Pradeep. These are the reference books. But I think one of them would be enough if you do that completely. NCERT books are one of the best books but generally don’t teach because of the manner in which they are written. If you can solve Exercises of NCERT then you are well prepared for any engineering exam.
Again NCERT books should be thoroughly practiced. More weightage should be given to Class XII portions
Ans. I am happy what I got. But I want to say, do hard work. There is no other substitute for hard work. But hard work should be done smartly. Always maintain documentation because without it everything is worthless. Whenever you study, study like you will not be having that material tomorrow. So study with very high concentration.
