NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
VITEEE Registration 2017 concluded on March 15, 2017. The exam is conducted for admission to 5000 seats in B.Tech program at Chennai and Vellore campus. This year, over 2.23 lakhs candidates registered for VITEEE 2017. As per the state- wise list of registered candidates, Andhra Pradesh stands first with 34,068, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. Last year, 2,12,138 candidates registered for VITEEE 2016, while in 2015, a total of 202,406 candidates had submitted VITEEE application form. Here are some quick facts about VITEEE Registration 2017:
VITEEE is scheduled for April 05 to April 16, 2017. It will be conducted in three sessions per day. It is to be held in offline mode across 167 centers located in 119 cities including India, Dubai and Kuwait. VITEEE Result 2017 will be declared on or before April 24, 2017 on the official website of VIT University. The counselling for admission to B.Tech programs in VIT University will start from May 10, 2017. Refer to the below graph and table to know about the trend of VITEEE Registrations over the years.

In 2016, 2,12,138 candidates registered for VITEEE and only 2,02,246 applicants appeared for the entrance test. Uttar Pradesh had topped the chart with 32,947 registrations (27,246 boys and 5,701 girls), while Andhra Pradesh was on second in the list with 27,427 registrations. Bihar came next with 18,463 registrations followed by Maharashtra with 15,584 registrations. At the end of chart, 14,476 registered from Telangana and 13,867 applicants from Tamil Nadu. Among the cities, there was more number of applications from Delhi, Hyderabad and Kota candidates. Chennai had registered 6,530 candidates while it was 2,361 from Vellore. Last year, the exam was held in 145 centers in 118 cities across India, Dubai and Kuwait. Vellore campus had an intake of 4100 students while Chennai campus had 1050 students. Also, about 500 applications had been received from NRIs (Non- residential Indians).
In 2016, VIT University has introduced new B.Tech programs such as Computer Science Engineering with specializations in Data Security at its Chennai campus and ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) at Vellore campus. Both the courses had an Intake of 60 students.
In the year 2015, approximately two lakh candidates appeared for VITEEE. It was held in 112 cities across the country including Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait etc. It was conducted for admissions to 14 B.Tech programs in the Vellore campus and five B.Tech programs in the Chennai campus of VIT University. VIT university had sold 202,406 application form in 2015 as against 193,970 applications in 2014.
VIT University has instituted special scholarships to help deserving students. Central and State board toppers will get 100 percent fee waiver for all the four years. The university supporting the Advancement of Rural Students scheme that selects two toppers from each district. In this scheme, the university has been offering 100 percent waiver in tuition fees and also exemption from hostel fee.
Candidates who come within top 50 ranks in VITEEE 2017 will get 75 percent tuition fee waiver. Candidates who secure a rank between 51 and 100 will get 50 percent waiver in tuition fee, while those who take rank between 101 and 1000 will get 25 percent waiver in fee.
VITEEE question paper comprises Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English sections. It is an online test with multiple choice questions and the medium of the examination is English only. It will have 125 questions and candidates have to solve the paper in 2 hours 30 minutes. Each question carries one mark and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Hence, candidates can make their thoughtful guesses for any answer. Candidates appearing for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects are eligible for all 14 B.Tech programs offered by VIT. Candidates appeared for Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B.Tech in Bio Medical engineering, Biotechnology and Computer Science Engineering programs only. VITEEE Cutoff 2017 can be considered as the closing rank for admission to B.Tech programs. It is not declared by VIT University. Both the campus of university is released their cutoff marks separately. The cutoff marks will depend on various factors such as total number of candidates appeared, number of seats available for admissions, average performance of the candidates etc.
