NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
GATE 2017 exam concluded on February 12, 2017. The last day had one of the more popular disciplines in the schedule – Civil Engineering (CE). Since the number of the aspirants were many, the GATE 2017 was held in two sessions – the first session was from 09:00 am to 12:00 noon and the second session from 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm.
The difficulty level of GATE 2017 CE Paper Session 7 was moderate. The weightage of topics like Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Geotechnical Engineering were comparatively high. The General Aptitude was quite easy in comparison to the previous year.

Engineering Mathematics- It comprised of questions on differential equations, linear algebra, calculus, complex variables, limits and continuity & numerical method. This section was of moderate difficulty level which carries 15 % of the total weightage.
Technical Section- In this section, most of the questions were formula based. Candidates were confounded from the questions of Structural analysis, engineering mechanics & Construction material. The difficulty level of this section was higher than last year. The questions asked in this section of GATE 2017 CE do not require depth knowledge.
General Aptitude- The questions from this section were easy to attempt and less time consuming. This section was easy & there were lot of chances to gain marks. It comprised of directions, clock, time & work, mensuration and Venn diagram topics.
