GATE 2019 Mock Test Series Released at GOAPS

GATE 2019 Mock Test is the copy of the real exam i.e. it comprises all aspects of the actual exam including marking scheme, display of questions, and segregation of questions etc. The tests are released for all the 24 disciplines. These mock tests help students to clearly understand all the finer details about GATE.  

Latest: GATE 2019 for 21 disciplines was conducted between February 2 and 3. The other 3 major papers (CE/ EE/ EC) are scheduled between February 9 and 10 in CBT mode. Read more 

Candidates who have successfully registered for the exam will be able to access and attempt these papers, available at gateiitm.ac.in. The following article talks about the steps to login and use the tests, their need, dates and paper pattern for the exam.


How to access the GATE 2019 Mock Test?

Mock test for GATE is available Paper-wise. So, applicants need to pick the mock test they are appearing. The following are the steps that help students to access the mock test:

Step 1: Visit the official website of GATE i.e. http://gate.iitm.ac.in/Mock

Step 2: Click on the GATE mock test link for the subject students will be appearing for

Step 3: A student will be redirected to a log-in panel

Step 4: Hit the “Sign In” button. No need of Log-In details as they are set as default.

Step 5: Once logging in, students can take the test after going through and accepting the exam guidelines

Step 6: As it is a mock, students will not be scored

Step 7: The test will have a timer which indicates the time left the mock test to end

What is the significance of GATE 2019 Mock tests?

While start preparing for the GATE examination, the first and the foremost step is that the test preparation should move in the right direction. Because the more you practice, the less error you make. Practice should be done in the right way and that too smartly.

The mock test is the practice test taken before the real test. These tests help students to tell them about the level of preparation. It tells students about the areas which need more attention. Taking mock tests helps students to evaluate, will they able to finish the paper on time; Do they have time for revision; which strategy they should follow to overcome the weak areas. These tests will not only provide students with good quality of questions but also create an actual test environment.

GATE Exam Pattern

Students appearing for the GATE examination are advised to check the paper pattern because it will help students to know about the subjects, marks distribution and duration of the exam which ultimately benefit students in GATE preparation. Following is the detailed explanation of GATE examination pattern:

  • The question paper contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
  • The paper contains both multiple choice and numerical answer type questions.
  • The examination is commenced only through the online mode.
  • Total time duration allocated to complete the test is 3 hours i.e. 180 minutes.
  • However, the paper is divided into three sections i.e. General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics (for XL papers it is Chemistry), and subject-specific section.
  • For 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted for every incorrect attempt.
  • In the case of the 2 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted for the wrong attempt.
  • For un-attempted questions, zero marks will be awarded
  • There is no negative marking for numerical answer type questions
  • The General Aptitude section consists of total 10 questions. 5 questions will be of 1 mark and the other 5 will be of 2 marks. So, the total marks for this section will be 15.
