NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has released the detailed paper pattern of GATE Humanities and Social Science (XH) paper. According to the official notice, GATE XH Paper will consist of General Aptitude (GA) and Reasoning Comprehension (B1) as compulsory sections and one section to opt from the list of six subjects.
Aspirants will be allowed to select any one of the subjects from English, Philosophy, Economics, Linguistics, Psychology, and Sociology depending on their qualifying degree.
GATE 2021 is not just for engineers only, students from humanities background will also be eligible to appear for the test. Aspirants will also have the option to appear for two subjects from this year onwards.
With the introduction of the two new subjects- Humanities and Social Science (XH) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) , the total subjects has increased to 27. Check GATE 2021 Syllabus

Students who are in their pre-final year of undergraduate degree program are eligible to apply for the GATE XH exam.
GATE 2021 has opened opportunities for non-science students as the optional papers are from Arts and Commerce students.
Also, Students having passed or studying the course in any optional subject can apply for GATE XH 2021 Exam.
The selection of optional subject has to be done as per the qualifying degree specialization. However, there are no age criteria for appearing in the GATE XH 2021 Exam.
The Syllabus of GATE Humanities and Social Science (XH) Paper will be released on the official information brochure. GATE Humanities Syllabus can be anticipated to be the standard undergraduate topics of the concerned papers. Candidates will be able to check the syllabus of all the 27 papers.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced that the GATE 2021 will be held over February 2 to February 7 and February 12 to February 13. The exam is scheduled to be held in two shifts- forenoon shift from 9:30 to 12:30 Am and afternoon shift to be conducted from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. This is for the first time, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will expand over a longer period than normal keeping the COVID-19 Pandemic in mind.
Candidates have been provided the option of appearing in a maximum of two papers in GATE 2021 to popularize interdisciplinary studies and research. The second paper must be from the given set of combinations available for this year, based on the availability of infrastructure and date. The details about subject combinations which can be opted will be informed in the official examination brochure.
The Conducting Authority i.e. IIT Bombay has not announced the GATE 2021 form filling date yet. Students can expect the GATE 2021 Application Form tentatively in the month of September 2020. Students will be able to register themselves in online mode. Only the eligible candidates will be able to apply and appear for the examination.
