Well, we all have heard the famous saying that practice makes a man perfect. In order to crack GATE ST, it is indeed very important. As statistics is a newly added subject, so there are no previous year questions or idea about what the difficulty level of the paper will be. So, besides coaching (if you have joined), it’s very important to practice as many questions as you can. Take mock tests regularly, so that you can see how much time you are spending on each question.
All past year toppers and experts always advice to take mock tests, as it is a very useful part of the preparation. So, make a timetable, and take mock tests for statistics at least once in every week.

Another thing of foremost importance is making your own study plan. You should have a proper timetable for your entire day. Every night before going to bed, make the timetable for your next day, what all topics are you going to cover, in how much time, manage your breaks in between, and all the things that you have to do for the next day. Making a study plan is a different thing and sticking to it, is different. So, make sure, that you tick off all the things from your timetable before planning the next day.
After completing every topic, practice questions related to that topic the same day, as it will ensure how much you have learnt that topic.
We all know what cheat notes are! So, what you have to do is, after completing every topic, make a cheat note for that topic. Write down all the important formulas, keywords, tricks, etc. related to it, on a paper and before sleeping and after waking up the next day, go through that cheat note thoroughly. It would be quick and amazing way to revise things. At the end, when you will have covered all the topics in Statistics, you will have a bunch of cheat notes, acting like a window to Statistics. Even before exam, it will be very easy to revise all the topics, very quickly.
One major problem, while attempting such papers, is time management. Students often complaint that they knew the answers, but there was not enough time and one thing that all past-year toppers have in common is that, they all knew how to manage time.
So, if you really want to crack GATE ST, speed up! Don’t spend much time on one question. If you don’t know the answer to it, or you have a doubt, then jump to the next question. First, of all, mark all the questions that you for sure know the answers to. After doing that, if you are still left with time, go back to all those questions, and make educated guess. Educated guess is simply eliminating options, as per your knowledge and smartness. If you are clueless about it, then its best, that you leave it unanswered.
Well, you can make all the study plans, cheat notes and watch all the motivational videos. But having a dream is another thing and willing to work for it is another. Don’t keep postponing things and making excuses for today, as it is very important to actually begin to walk on the path towards achieving your goal. What future unfolds for you largely depends upon how you start today. So, consider every day to be a new one and make sure that no day is wasted.
While preparing for GATE ST, make sure that you DO NOT do these things.
Lastly, we hope that these preparation tips for GATE ST 2019 helps you in any way. All the best!
