Karnataka Common Entrance Test or KCET 2019 is an annual state-level entrance exam organized by Karnataka Admissions Authority (KEA) for admission to undergraduate programs in different disciplines such as Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Indian System of Medicine & Homeopathy, Medical & Dental, and Farm Sciences in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka for the academic year 2019- 20.

KCET 2019 Exam Dates are yet to be announced by KEA, however the salient features of the exam have been listed below:

  • KCET 2019 is scheduled to take place in April 2019.
  • Non-Karnataka candidates are not eligible to appear for KCET 2019.
  • KCET 2019 Application Form is expected to be available from January 2019.
  • The basic eligibility condition for KCET 2019 will be successful completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination.
  • KCET 2019 Admit Card will be issued in April 2019.
  • KCET 2019 will be an offline, paper-based test, consisting of 3 papers in general – Biology/Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, depending on the course applied for. There will be a separate Kannada language test for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates.
  • The syllabus for Pharmacy and other courses includes Biology, Physics and Chemistry, while for Engineering programs, the syllabus comprises of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

KCET 2019 enables aspirants to seek admissions for UG programs in Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy, Yoga, B. Tech, MBBS, BDS, B. Arch, B. Sc. (Agriculture, Sericulture, Forestry, Horticulture etc.), B-Pharma, and D-Pharma in the state of Karnataka.

Candidates must note that all dates listed in this article are indicative. Official dates for KCET 2019 will be announced by KEA in due course on its website. Based on past trends, a tentative dateline for the events involved in the process can be charted. Aspirants are advised to keep a tab on the official website for updates.

KCET 2019 Eligibility

KCET eligibility criteria will differ from program to program. The basic eligibility conditions for admission are:

  • Successfully completed 10+2 or equivalent examination with subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology in general.
  • Candidates appearing in 10+2 final exam or equivalent are also eligible to apply.

Please note that admissions into Architecture, and Medical programs would be on the basis of applicant’s valid NATA and NEET scores respectively.


KCET 2019 Application Form

KCET 2019 Application Form has to be filled online and will be available for access on the official website by January 2019. Applicants are advised to carefully read the instructions prior to filling the Application Form.KCET Application process should be completed well before the deadline in order to avoid last minute rush.

The steps involved in the application process is listed below:

  1. Visit the KEA website, i.e. www.kea.kar.nic.in
  2. Select ‘CET 2019 UG Online Application’ to access the KCET 2019 Application Form
  3. Complete the registration process by filling all the mandatory fields with correct details. Upon completion of entering all details a unique Application ID and password would be generated and also sent to registered email ID. This ID and password would be required for future access to the website and all information pertinent to KCET 2019.
  4. Upload scanned copies of applicant’s recent passport-size color photograph, specimen signature and left thumb impression as well as parent’s signature.
  5. Once all the above steps are complete, applicants are advised to carefully verify the entries made by them and if any changes are required they can do so before accepting the declaration and submitting the Application Form.
  6. The next step is that of Application Fee Payment which can be done in offline mode, to be paid in any of the specified Bank Branches/e-Post Office. The fee payment process is discussed in detail in the following section.
  7. Applicants should obtain at least 3 prints of the application form, affix copies of the recent passport-size photograph uploaded on the online application form, specimen signature, left-hand thumb impression on the space provided.
  8. Next, the applicants have to get these copies of the application forms attested by the Head of the Institute studied last for presentation during document verification along with the fee payment challan.

It is very important to note that if any of the information furnished in the online application form is found to be false or incorrect, the candidature is liable to be rejected and the fee paid shall be forfeited.

Applicants claiming reservation should present the supporting documents during document verification without fail.

KCET 2019 Application Fee

KCET 2019 Application Fee can be paid via offline mode only. Applicants need to download and print the bank challan (in triplicate) from the official website and deposit the requisite amount with any of the designated Bank branches or e-Post Offices.

Once the fee is paid, the bank/post office would stamp the payment details on two of the challan copies which the applicant is required to retain for further use. Candidates residing out of India need to remit the fee via Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority’ payable at Bangalore.

KCET 2019 Admit Card

Candidates who have submitted the online application form complete in all respects will be able to download their KCET 2019 Admit Card from the official website prior to the scheduled exam date. KCET Admit card will showcase important details about the candidates as well as exam venue, such as Candidate’s name & Application number, examination center, exam date & timing etc. Please note that, candidates not carrying a valid ID card issued by KEA, will not be allowed to take the test.

The following steps are involved in downloading the KCET 2019 admit card:

  1. Visit the KEA official website.
  2. Click on the KCET 2019 Admit Card link
  3. Enter appropriate login credentials to access the admit card
  4. Download and print multiple copies of the document for further use.

KCET 2019 Exam Centers   

KCET exams are conducted in about 54 centers across Karnataka. Candidates can name their preferred test center in the online application form. However, they need to select a center located in the same district from where they have qualified 10+2 or equivalent examination. Candidates who are seeking reservation under Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga eligibility clauses should choose a test center at Bangalore only.

KCET Exam Pattern 2019

KCET 2019 is a pen-paper based test with OMR response sheet. The examination will be held for 2-days in a row, split into 4-sessions, one each for Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.The paper will consist of 60 objective-type questions required to be completed in 80 minutes. Each question carries a score of 1 mark and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers in KCET 2019.

Candidates who are seeking reservation under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses will have to appear for a Kannada Language Test, in which the cut-off score is 12 out of 50 marks.

KCET 2019 Result

KCET 2019 Result will be announced by KEA tentatively by May 2019.

  • The results will be available to download from the official website
  • Candidates need to enter their login credentials in order to access their score cards
  • Candidates are advised to obtain prints of the KCET 2019 Result until the Admission procedure is complete
  • KEA will release the KCET cut-off after the declaration of the result.

KCET 2019 Result

  •  KCET 2019 Result will be announced by the conducting authority in the last week of May 2019.
  • Candidates will check their KCET 2019 Result through online mode.
  • Candidates have to enter their registration number to check their results.
  • Keep a print copy of the result & safe it till the admission procedure not over.
  • The authority will also release the KCET cut off after the result declaration.

KCET 2019 Merit List

KCET 2019 Merit list will be released soon after results are made available on the official website. The merit list is prepared on the basis of candidate’s KCET 2019 score and percentage of marks secured in qualifying examination. The Merit list is the deciding factor whether a candidate will be able to attend the counseling process or not. KCET Counseling 2019

KCET 2019 Counselling is expected to commence in June 2019. Candidates that meet the cut off score will be invited for the counseling process on the basis of their merit ranking in KCET 2019. Document verification is an extremely important part of the Counseling process. Candidates are advised to carry all relevant document in original as well as photocopies to present for verification.

  • Candidates need to be present personally for the process
  • The allotment of seats will take place on the basis of KCET 2019, seat availability & candidate’s preferences.
  • Candidate, if dissatisfied with the seat allotment, can participate in subsequent counselling rounds.

The following documents must be presented in original along with attested photo copies at the time of document verification.

  • 10th & 12th Mark sheet & Passing Certificate
  • KCET 2019 Admit Card & Score Card
  • Two passport size photographs, identical to the one uploaded with the online application form.
  • Category Certificate
  • Attested Printout of the filled-in Application Form
  • Documents in support of any other claims for reservation

KCET 2019 Reservation

KCET 2019 Seat Reservation will be applicable for SC, ST, OBC candidates. Candidates of Karnataka origin only, can claim reservation for Government seats, under the following categories: NCC, Sports, Scouts and Guides, Defence, Ex-defence, PWD, Central Armed Police Force, and Ex-Central Armed Police Force.

Wards of Ex-Central Armed Police will be allotted seats on the basis of merit only.
