Mock Tests and Proper Revision: Best Preparation Strategy for EAMCET, says Rayapalli Manoj

Last Updated - January 27, 2017

Rayapalli Manoj obtained an All India Rank holder of 4000. He appeared for APEAMCET in the year 2014. He decided to take admission in Narayana junior college.

According to his opinion, subject wise classes and self-study help one to obtain a good rank and scores in APEAMCET. He says Time management and Practice is the key to attain good score. According to him, if one is starting APEAMCET preparation during his class XII examination, should have given equal time to APEAMCET exam and IPE (Intermediate Public Examination) exam both.

Let’s read about his preparation strategies to crack the APEAMCET Exam in the article below.

Ques.  What did you choose - Offline or Online mode for taking up the exam?

Ans. I choose Offline mode of APEAMCET exam. The advantage of offline mode is, if you have any kind of confusion you can ask directly. As there were no technical issues, I wrote exam without any problem. We can see all questions at one paper. I started question to write from where I wanted to.

Ques. Did you take coaching classes? If yes, how did they help in your story?

Ans. I took coaching at NARAYANA junior college for APEAMCET preparation along with IPE, IPE means intermediate exams. Every weekend there used to be model test papers through that I completed almost APEAMCET syllabus along with IPE exams. There was no separate coaching, so I used to prepare APEAMCET on alternative days of the week and rest of time was dedicated to IPE exam.

Ques. How did you manage your APEAMCET preparation along with your class 12th exam?

Ans. As I told before, I took classes for APEAMCET on alternative days. For every week, three days were allocated for APEAMCET preparations and remaining days for 12th exam. On weekend there used to be tests and model exam papers for both 12th and APEAMCET exam. I was given extra classes especially for 12th exam rather than APEAMCET, so I had to practice and prepare for APEAMCET at home which actually helped me to clearing the conceptual things.

Ques. What were your strong and weak areas? How did you prepare and what special efforts did you put for improving them?

Ans. My strong area is mathematics. But I was not pretty good in chemistry so I practiced more questions and problems through the model papers every day to prepare properly for chemistry section in AP EAMCET. As I was good in mathematics so I was sure that I will score better in Mathematics section than chemistry. But I did not neglect chemistry, I gave sufficient time to chemistry also so that I score well in it.

Ques. What mock papers did you take?

Ans. I had to appear for tests and solve model papers every weekend, organized by my college. I also practiced mock tests available online. I solved last ten year question papers which were easily available online.

Ques. Write some of the preparation tips for someone who is starting 4 months before the exam?

Ans. Only practice and focus is the key. Practicing the basic concepts thoroughly can help you solve the difficult questions also. I will recommend to solve previous year model papers to improve both weak and strong areas. You can make your own questions from the available model test papers and memorize them.  Always mark the repetitive questions to know the important topics in the examination. These questions will stay in your mind without learning and also practice through online test papers. Do Practice hard and more.

Ques. Physics: Mention the strategy and books followed for this section

Ans.The following suggestions may help you in getting the required marks in Physics:

  • The best way to learn physics is “Conceptual Approach “
  • Concentrate more on Modern Physics, Electro Statics, Magnetic Effects of Current and Earths Magnetism, Heat & Thermodynamics, SHM and Oscillations, Current Electricity
  • Whenever you try to solve a problem in physics, you try to visualize the question and problem.
  • The entire data given in the problem should be there in your mind, if required read the problem twice.
  • Remember, same marks for an easy question and as well for a difficult question. Therefore, first search for easy question you know 87% of the question paper consists of easy questions based on “Simple Concepts”. Work Hard.

Ques. Chemistry: Mention the strategy and books followed for this section

Ans. As chemistry plays vital role in getting better rank in APEAMCET, follow the methodology given below in the coming three days for quick revision.

Organic chemistry (8 to 9 questions)

  • Study isomerism, nomenclature, reagents and named reactions.
  • Practice preparatory methods and properties of organic compounds in the form of interconversions.

Physical chemistry (12 to 14 questions)

  • Go through the formulae
  • Glance the selective numerical
  • Concentrate on basics

Inorganic chemistry (12 to 14 questions)

  • Review the general trends in groups
  • Practice Electrolyte, electrodes reactions in electrolytic preparatory methods
  • Glance through the reactions

General chemistry (7 to 8 questions)

  • Quickly review the basic concept
  • Review the formulae involved
  • Go through the numerical if any in chapters like Atomic structure

Ques.  Mathematics: Mention the strategy and books followed for this section

Ans. The most important thing to identify the lengthy and difficult questions and don’t spend more time on any of the problems, during this period spend at least 2 hours every day to prepare formulas and tips and tricks. Even while preparing for APEAMCET students should allot half of the time for Mathematics Preparation

  • To get more marks in Mathematics, solving more questions is necessary.
  • Identify what concepts are the most important, set priorities and study the most important concepts first.
  • Accuracy and time management is very important.
  • Where ever necessary use tips and shortcuts.
  • After attaining command over concepts, time bound work is needed.
  • There are more questions from calculus, Algebra, Co-ordinate Geometry both 2D and 3D.
  • Matrix, Determinants, Binomial theorem, trigonometry should be solved in a systematic manner.
  • In complex numbers, Modulus, Amplitude, cube root of unity, nth root of unity related problems and also Locus and maxima, minima Values are very important.
  • Set a realistic study schedule and begin studying early.
  • Short study sessions spread out over time are more efficient and effective than single period of condensed study. Begin your study sessions with quick review of materials you have previously Studied, so that this previous materials stays fresh even though you studied in detail weeks before the test
  • Actively Summarize: For each major concept and integrate.

Ques. What are the things you would like to go back in time and change to get into a better college?

Ans. I want to change my preparation timings and follow same as, as I have mentioned above. But still I am happy with my college.
