NIFT 2019 Exam Pattern

NIFT or National Institute of Fashion Technology is a premier institute offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of Design and Fashion Technology. Candidates can seek admission to various campuses of NIFT in the country by clearing NIFT entrance exam.

NIFT 2019 exam is scheduled to be held in the second week of February 2019. Candidates can admit themselves into courses such as B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M, B.Des and M.Des courses based on their performance in NIFT 2019 exam. As per NIFT 2019 Exam Pattern, the paper is held in offline mode and conducted in 5 stages.

Candidates must qualify each stage of the exam separately in order to get admission in the course of his/her choice. B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M, course needs to be completed in 3 hours duration whereas for B.Des and M.Des course, the exam is of 2 hours duration. The question paper will be available in English language only. No marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

Questions in the paper will be asked from Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, English Comprehension, Problem Solving approach, Discernment Ability and Power of Observation. NIFT 2019 Exam Pattern in Detail

NIFT 2019 Exam Pattern comprises GAT, CAT, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The UG and PG courses offered by NIFT are Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Master of Design (M.Des), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech), Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech) and Master of Fashion Management (MFM).

General Ability Test or GAT is a written test for all the 5 courses offered by NIFT. GAT is the first test for selection for B.Des and M.Des courses. After clearing GAT, B.Des and M.Des students are required to qualify CAT. Applicants who cleared both the written tests will be eligible for Situation Test followed by Group Discussion/ Personal Interview. GAT is the only selection test for B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech and MFM.

NIFT 2018 Examination Pattern is explained in detail below:

  • GAT examination is conducted in the offline mode only.
  • For B.Des and M.Des, GAT exam is of 2 hours. On the other hand, B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech, GAT exam is for 3 hours.
  • The paper will be in English language only
  • For B.Des, total 100 questions will be asked in GAT and for M.Des 120 questions will be asked.
  • For B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech, 150 questions will be asked.
  • GAT & CAT written exams will be conducted for M.Des and B.Des courses. Whereas, for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech only GAT will be conducted.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

NIFT 2019 Syllabus

NIFT 2018 examination syllabus comprises Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current affairs. Syllabus for both the GAT and CAT test is different and the same has been mentioned below.

GAT Syllabus

Quantitative Ability: Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work & Task, Ratio & Proportion and Distance

Communication Ability and English Comprehension: Synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one-word substitutes, idioms & phrases, correct spellings

NIFT 2019 Important Instructions

Students are advised to go through the following instructions before appearing in the examination:

  • Students should start solving previous year papers and mock tests.
  • They should reach the examination hall before commencement of the exam.
  • Candidates must carry the printout of NIFT Admit Card 2019 along with the printout of original identity card.
  • Jewellery, watches, belts and other ornaments are also not allowed inside the examination hall.
  • All the electronic devices such as Mobile Phones, Pagers, and Bluetooth etc. are not allowed inside the examination center.
  • A valid photo ID proof includes College ID card, Passport, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN card etc.
  • Without NIFT Admit Card, students cannot appear for the exam
