Bengaluru, November 13, 2018: India witnessed history in the making of Tencent Games and PUBG Corp. into Indian eSports with the capable partnership of Playtonia and brought forth PUBG Mobile Campus Championship 2018 sponsored by OPPO F9 Pro. The tournament and the grand finale completely redefined the scale of Indian eSports and set new benchmarks in the ecosystem. The response received by the event was astounding.
This tournament was designed to cater to the college students in India thereby taping into the uncharted territory of Indian eSports. The tournament took part in phases with online qualifiers followed by Semi-finals and finally the top 20 teams were invited to KTPO, Whitefield for the grand finale. Launched on September 7th, 2018, the tournament recorded an overwhelming response from 250,000 participants.
Playtonia planned out the promotional agendas by integrating its Playtonia Ambassador Program which included 200+ students working tirelessly in 1000 colleges across India, spreading word and promoting the event. Within the span of 2 weeks, there were around quarter of a million unique registrations for the event.
They also managed to garner 50K + concurrent online viewers across multiple platforms for the Finale alone and set new standards for mobile gaming tournaments in the near future. Teams that qualified for the Grand Finale felt overwhelmed with the warmth and love they received from Team Playtonia during their stay in Bengaluru.
