Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is launching a first-of-its-kind “techMBA” program this academic year (2019-2020). A unique initiative, IIT Madras will be offering 2 degrees to the pursuant of this course: B.Tech and MBA. The course will be conducted as a 5-year integrated course.
Conceived by the Department of Management Studies (DOMS), the course is currently planned with an intake of only 25-30 students. The techMBA will be a part of the 5-year Inter-Disciplinary-Dual-Degree (IDDD) programmes offered by the institute. The other programmes offered by the institute in this project are:

The main foundational subjects of the techMBA programme will be inducted from 3rd year onwards. After the induction of the first course, students will be assessed at the end of the 5th semester. On the basis of their performance, they will be inducted in the full-time course. The students are expected to score at least 8.0 CGPA by the end of the 5th semester for this programme.
The course aims to develop better human capabilities by linking the management of corporations and technological innovations. By offering cutting-edge management inputs, the course will teach students to manage businesses in the most optimal way.

techMBA will help build a new generation of talent based on the pillars of technological depth, managerial breadth, and business wisdom, as Prof G Arun Kumar, Head, DOMS, IIT-M says. Through its curriculum design and unique pedagogy, the course will help bring out new learning outcomes.
techMBA will help students stand out among the crowd and participate in the various university exchange programs throughout the globe. It is an innovative step to teach business acumen to engineering students and blends business functions, performance analytics and transformation technologies.
