How to Apply for Samsung’s “Star Scholar Program” Scholarship? Read Everything You Need to Know.

Samsung has recently announced 560 scholarships for the students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) under the program named “Star Scholar Program”. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India runs the JNV.

As the ‘Samsung Star Scholar’ program enters its fourth year, Samsung has decided to extend the scholarships to 560 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya across the country to peruse B.Tech and M.Tech courses at the prestigious IITs and NITs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who are pursuing a full-term B.Tech/ Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) course in any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or a National Institute of Technology (NIT) in India are eligible for this scholarship.
  • The candidate should not be availing any other financial aid or scholarship during their B.Tech/ Dual Degree (B.Tech+ M.Tech) course from the institute. 

If a first-year applicant applies for this program, then the selection will be on the basis of his/her All India Rank (AIR) in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main). Whereas, in the case of second to fourth-year students, the applicant has to maintain a Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CPGA) rating of 5 or above.

Application Form and Process

In order to apply for this scholarship, you have to fill an application form available online. After filling the form, submit it to the head of the Samsung Office along with some essential documents mentioned below:

  • Complete Application Form along with a self-attested photograph. The form should also be certified and signed by the Dean Academics. 
  • Copy of class 10 and 12 mark sheets with self-certification. 
  • Self- certified JEE (Advanced) rank certificate 
  • Canceled Cheque of the bank account in which the Scholarship amount will be transferred.
  • Self-certified copy of Address Proof- Aadhaar Card will be required
  • Self-certified copy of Pan Card is mandatory.
  • Write up on the topics mentioned below:
    • How will you make an impact if chosen?
    • Why are you a qualified candidate for this scholarship?
  • If an applicant is a minor, then the application form must be countersigned by the respective legal guardian of the application and the Guardian Declaration Application Form (Annexure-II) should also be filled. 

The scholarship can be extended if a certain criterion is fulfilled by the student for the subsequent years of his/her course in the institute. Candidates who remain in the top 50% of their class will continue to get the scholarship for the next year. 

For the renewal of scholarship, you need the following documents:

  • Complete Application Form along with a self-attested photograph. The form should also be certified and signed by the Dean Academics. 
  • Copy of all the mark sheets of the previous academic years.
  • Copy of the receipt of the first-semester fee deposited at the respective institute.
  • Any additional supporting documentation as noted in the individual scholarship descriptions.

This year the number of planned scholarships is 560, out of which 150 will be for the new applicants and the remaining 410 will be granted as a renewal of existing scholarships. So, grab this opportunity fast!
