The Maharashtra School Education Department in partnership with UNICEF India has launched a web career portal for the students from classes 9 to 12. The web career portal has been launched since the students are reception thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown within the state. the web career portal will let students get more information regarding career pathways and details on education, entrance exams, and earnings supported the interest of the students.
The online portal was launched by the education minister via a webinar on Friday. Students can access the web portal on the web site @mahacareerportal.com. The web portal was developed by UNICEF alongside iDream Career. The web career portal is going to be available for the students from May 27, 2020, with a user ID and Password which can be shared with the students from the faculties.
School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad, said that the web portal will empower the students to explore the various career options including those which aren't exposed otherwise. The portal also will function as a crucial tool for the state counsellors to support the students to make a choice about their future. The portal has been adapted to the context of the state together with the Maharashtra State Council for Educational Research and Training which is additionally available in Marathi, Hindi, and English.
The online career portal features over 500 careers which will be updated regularly and will also include the non-traditional career areas including Agriculture and Food Science, Hospitality and Tourism, Virology, Animation and Graphics, and Sports and Fitness. The portal also will help in allowing a learner to seem up the career domain and understand the eligibility, education requirements, colleges within the different countries. The portal also will offer the specified courses, studentships, and fellowships with different entry points to the sector and different growth options within the particular career domain.
The teachers also will be capacitated virtually on the structure and content of the career guidance for the students since the present restriction on movement is enforced thanks to the lockdown.
