On 28 May, Ramesh Pokhriyal, the Human Resource Development Minister of India, will be speaking to the 45,000 colleges in the country through a webinar. The webinar will be conducted at 3 p.m. by NAAC with a view to addressing the issues being faced by college students due to the lockdown. The webinar will seek to find solutions to deal with the problems and turn the challenges into opportunities.

This is not the first time that the HRD Minister is using webinars to address the issues of the students. On 5 May, he had addressed students in a webinar to announce the dates for the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). He had also addressed teachers exclusively.

In the webinar on 28 May, the HRD Minister is also expected to address the issues faced by colleges regarding things such as online classes, disruption of the academic calendar, and delays in examinations. He has asked students and colleges to give their suggestions and feedback on twitter.

Earlier, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had given a set of guidelines to restore the faltering academic calendar. However, the problems regarding online classes and protests against the decision of some universities to give examinations online are still going on.
