Rajasthan High Court Cancels First Round of PG Medical Counselling

The Rajasthan High Court has canceled the first round of counseling for PG Medical admissions.

The Court has directed the state government to conduct a fresh round including the additional 89 seats allotted for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota, as per MCI letter on February 27, 2020.

Shobhit Tiwari, Counsel for a petitioner said, "MCI issued letters to all state medical colleges asking them to include additional 89 seats in the PG courses under EWS quota. But the colleges released the result of the first round of counseling on April 26, 2020, without adding 89 seats in the first round of counseling held on April 11, 2020."

The Court further said that the state government was free to fill the EWS 10% quota by applying the plain roster. The EWS reservation should be applied as per the roster for only 89 seats, made available by MCI.

The court instructed that though admissions given in the first round of Counselling are canceled if a student was allotted the same college, his/her admission be given accordingly.

In other cases, where the student has not been able to get a particular seat, his already deposited fees, be returned. The Court instructed to conduct the exercise immediately, on completion of all India Counseling.
