JN MEDICAL COLLEGE
REMARKS
Monthly external expenses depends on your way of living. Positive remarks would be that their clinics are much better and focused with respect to other colleges. College is strict about girls in and out timings which is slowly imposing on boys too.
FEE STRUCTURE AND FACILITIES
For 2017 batch, it’s 11Lakh per year, hostel and mess excluded. Examination fee and other miscellaneous charges are also there. It’s bit on expensive side but when compared to our junior’s fee and other college ‘s fee (16-25L/year), it looks much cheaper.
PLACEMENT WING
After 4.5 years of MBBS, it’s compulsory for a medical student to undergo 1 year of internship. In internship, you are posted in every department for a particular time where you have to complete some work/assignment/task/prescriptions. Stipend is usually 8-10k
ADMISSION
On the basis of NEET marks and rank, a separate department was handling the counseling process and shortlisting students for particular college according to their choices filled on the website. After shortlisted, we had to report to the college with necessary documents and fee within a period of time and all the formalities were done in counseling hall in college. College also take admission via state and NRI quota also
HOSTEL FACILITIES
Yes. I have opted for hostel. College provide 2 types of hostel. Chanakya and NRI boys hostel. Different type of rooms are available in each hostel like single or double occupancy with or without washrooms attached. Hostel fee(2017 batch) varies from 36k-90k with some security deposit
ALUMNI
Alumni meet is not organised as of now. In future, maybe they will. Senior students are indeed helpful. You get to know all the important stuff about exams, teachers and what to follow in each department, where to get your work done, local restaurants, nearby places to hangout, vacation spot etc
FACULTY
Faculty of college is up to the mark. In each department, you will find 1-2 teacher who will help you and guide you to your satisfaction. Teachers teach via ppt while some still teach on board. If you score less in internals/exams, a slow learned batch is formed for which a teacher is assigned to guide and help them.
CAMPUS LIFE
For extracurricular, you are on your own. If you want to play, bring your equipment and play. Courts and grounds have been provided but there are timings. For Gym,swimming and lawn tennis, you have to pay certain amount. Dance, music and drama is not that active unless there is a competition. There are no societies for drama or music.
COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Course curriculum is designed to expose the student of medical knowledge and application from basics to advance with subsequently guiding about final year subjects and clinics. In a year, we have two internals, one prelims(kind of pre-board) and then university exam(finals). Exam pattern depends on subject but usually, 25mcqs with 75 marks of written part is there following practicals.
COLLEGE EVENTS
Many events are organized. Sports like TT,lawn tennis, cricket, football etc have inter-college tournament. Athletic meet is there in which all track events are there. Dance, music and drama competitions are there. Every 2 year, a mega event is organized in which all colleges of north Karnataka are invited. College also conduct many functions like teacher’s day celebrations, freshers etx
