Overall the college is a better option is you have placements in your mind. But I'd you are into higher studies and research it might not be the best option.
The curriculum is based on the "Course-Outcome" structure. There are specified COs and the syllabus is defined based on it. The overall course is very well planned, and does really help in our academic growth. The curriculum is getting to be implementing industry specific knowledge.
The college itself is known for its placements. The placement drive is a biggest event here. The placement cell is one of the most hardworking, efficient department here. Companies like HP, Deloitte, JP Morgan, Cisco, Intuit, Infosys and many more visit the campus for placements. Every year almost 100% placements is obtained. The placement cell trains the students will for the hiring process.
There are a lot of cultural events which keeps on going the whole year. Every department conducts its own department fest. There are a lot of events both technical and non-technical. There are inter-college competitions organised by our college, where in the whole Mysore participates. The main college fest "JAYCIANA" is itself described as 'mini-dasara'. It is the biggest cultural event with national and international artists visiting as guests and a lot of events taking place with complete fun and a festive vibe.
The fee structure is moderate. Neither expensive nor cheap. The fees depends on the mode of entrance. If you are getting admissions through competitive exams, the government prescribed fees (depending on if you are a govt.aided seat or an unaided seat) will be collected. But the management seat donations are a bit expensive.
The college does not provide separate scholarships. But initiates on the government funded scholarship schemes. The scholarship department is really helpful and do provide good info about the available merit cum means based scholarships.
The college is totally ragging-free, discrimating-free and is promoting a mature society. There are no barriers between students of any domain. Considering extracurricular activities, there are a lot of it organised by individual clubs. There are a lot of student clubs both technical and non-technical which recruit students and conduct a lot of competitions. There is equal opportunity for both boys and girls and the gender ratio differs from branch to branch. ( Like CS has a lot of girls but Mech on the other hand has really few)
The alumni of this college are the best connection you can have. It will definitely help you for your placements. The seniors are never hesitant to guide their juniors. All the students are well behaved. The network of senior students help the coming junior to get into the professional career successfully.
I got in through K-CET. The college tales admissions based on K-CET, Comed-K and also there are the management seats. Admissions commence as per the respective exam results are out, and management seats are up right after your boards. This institution has a name for its 100% placements for quite a time.I chose engineering out of interest, but chose this college, for the placements.
The faculty here are in the range from, fresh lecturers to experienced senior professors. The lectures have all done thier masters and the professors have thier doctorates. Many lectures are pursuing their research papers. There are many professors who are research oriented and may come into help.
You need to have secured 60% or 6/10 CGPA in the undergraduate programme from a recognized university. The percentage criteria for SC/ST students is 5.5/10 or 50%. Nextly a written test is also conducted by the university which contain 100 objective question and each of the questions carries one mark.My score was pretty good in the written examination and I had my name in the third merit list which was out on the college website.Shortly after that I was called for document verification and granted admission.
The salary in our course ranges from 60,000 to 1.2 lpm. Being a medical course , last year batch has secured 90% placement record.Top companies that visited our campus were CCBF, CPDO, Bannerghatta Biological Park, Mysore Zoo etc. There were also few NGOs that interviewed our seniors and recruited them as veterinarians in their vet clinics. Internships were also offered to the students and the starting stipend for the same was 15,000 per month.
The management of our college is good. There are no bad remarks. Good remarks is that our college is top 1 medical college of Karnataka
The admission is quite easy; it requires an aggregate percentage of 45% to enroll in the course of Bachelor of Engineering(Computer Science). The decision of admission is taken by the college administrative department, my name appeared on the third admission list. Afterward, I have completed the documentation process.
The professors are kind and also help with our studies and as well as help us with accommodation. In our course, Computer science faculties generally give projects and help us in the query. This will help us in the future to crack interviews.
Positive remarks is Faculty is very good and entire environment of college is very nice and Negative remark is College should decrease some amount of fees so it will help for students to complete the course without applying any education loan
I think St.Joseph's is one package of greatness and life to lead simple as that.
