College management is the main culprit of this decline. They never ran that like a college. All their motive was to run a business for a short term so that they can gain some good money and run. You can judge it yourself as after 2018 no BTech batch existed.
Overall course curriculum was okay but the students suffered a lot every semester for exams, labs, practicals, placements, everything. It was just made on the Name of UPES dehradoon which later pulled out their hands and shifted to MIT Pune. Just because our program director was an Ex-ONGC(GGM) we somehow managed to get one good intership at ONGC Ahmedabad and Industrial visit to OIL India Dhuliajaan, Assam.
Placement was below average. Just because of our Program Director we somehow managed to get placement of 11 students out of 41. Internships of all the 41 students was done in ONGC and Oil India. If we look onto the average placement per year it will be below 30% cumulatively.
More or less event's held was of Petroleum branch only as SPE fest was held twice and many Industry veterans visited during that fest period. Director's, Course HOD and various other people's from ONGC, OIL India, ISM Dhanbad visited our college as our HOD was somehow related to all of them either as a classmate or junior as my HOD was a passout of ISM Dhanbad only.
Fees of all the programs were 7 lacs only. Mode of payment was by DD or cheque on the name of the college. Full transparency was there as the fees was fixed for each sem during admission only. Their was no additional fees for securing the admission but various hidden fees were charged in the middle of the course completeness.
I have taken an education loan from Allahabad bank at my hometown (Patna) for a sum of 4 lacs on an interest rate of 12. 25% per annum.
There was no campus life as their was a small building with limited space. No such labs were there. A cricket tournament was organised during our last year period and some extra curricular competitions like essay writings were organised by the outsiders. Gender ration in Petroleum was like out of 41 only 4 girls were there and if we look onto the combined no then also 2:10 ratio was there (Girl:Boy).
There was no hostel provided from the college side but there was so many private hostels/pg nearby although the condition of the fooding was worst. Average rental fees was around 7000 per month including fooding.
As the petroleum stream continued for 2 years only and after 2018 no BTech batch continued so we can't say anything about alumni network as it doesn't exists. Only BBA batch is going on there as of now.
A rank was given on the basis of Board(12th exam result) and UTM entrance exam result. My rank was 25th and I got selected for Petroleum Engineering batch (2018). I was interested for Petroleum since my flass 10th only imas I have researched on this stream a lot and my interest was for this one compared to others.
If we look onto the faculty part only our program director was well enough to handle our curriculum as it is prescribed by the UGC. Apart from that no domain faculty was having a sound knowledge of the subjects what were assigned to them. That was the reason after 2018 that Petroleum batch didn't continued. All the lectures were just copy paste things.
So far the number of campus placements are yet unknown as for humanities department but the INTERSHALA scheme/app provides every student to apply for jobs and short term work opportunity with the qualifications as per needed. My plans after getting my degree is to aim for higher course eg: PhD.
Good: Placements Opportunities, Student-driven Campus, Impressive Facuty student relationships, World Class Education. Bad: Pressures and Competition among the senior & junior. Admission: Admissions are done on the basis of CAT cutoff and Personal Interview process. Overall, the weightage for various factors is calculated.
For the personal interview process, I was given a situation where I was asked to suggest some actions or measures that will help the respective organizations to grow its profits. Apart from these, the interview panel asked questions relevant to work experience, academic records, general awareness.

Yes, there was a Case discussion round followed by a personal interview by the faculty members of the college. In the case discussion a case was given to a group and we had to discuss the case in front of a moderator. Business topics, Financial News are generally asked in the interview along with the Academic Questions based on your undergraduate subjects.
I don't know from which semesters students are eligible for campus placement, After getting my degree,I plan to opt for a Master's if I can get it, If not then I think I'll opt for D.EL.ED or B.Ed
Once the students get into the 5th semester, since then placements start coming. Companies from various fields come for placement. Well, I don't have any idea about the package as per the companies. I haven't applied for any job yet, since I don't have the planning to get engaged in the job after completing my bachelor's degree. I'll be pursuing my masters after getting the degree.
I got my admission to Shillong college through the admission list provided by the college. First I applied to the college by filling the online admission form with my marks in Class 12. After that I got selected in the college I visited the campus and booked my seat.
Shillong college invited various companies and organizations to participate in i their placement event organized every year to provide jobs to students. The major recruiters are TCS, Reliance Jio, Mahindra, etc which provide opportunities to students.
NEHU i am so lucky to get admission here for which i will thank god. My friends are very good, kind. The teachers are very strict but very kind thats what i like about them. They give too much pressure during the semester also help us during the exam.
The university is located a bit far from the city center and on Sunday commuting is a bit difficult from the university and very few cabs are available. The university has a great fleet of buses and they help the students to commute to all parts of the city from Monday to Saturday. There are plenty of shops, canteen, restaurants and departmental stores inside the campus.
