It is close to my home. The main campus is the best the University has to offer. The fees are reasonable due to it being a State run University. And the fact that I didn't do particularly well in CLAT or AILET.
The syllabus is fine though one can call it a bit behind the times. The faculty has been a massive let down in all honesty. Only a couple of them bother to teach. The others do not exhibit either the ability or the desire to teach. In quite a few cases, it's a combination of both. It is safe to say that unless you have a habit of self studying or at least develop the same, you will struggle.
The Internship & Placement Cell of USLLS is an organization which is still in its relative infancy having been in place only for the last few years. Admittedly there has been mixed feedback regarding the I&P Cell with results and disappointment found in equal measure. However, it has stepped up it's profile with quite a few graduates having landed good jobs after passing out. The Alumni Network is an active one with platforms on Whatsapp and Telegram and has seen ease of interaction between graduates and students which in turn generates internship opportunities. The I&P Cell of USLLS shows promise even if progress is seemingly on the slow side.
There are several fests and events held up by different schools on campus. These events attract widespread participation due to the monotony in classrooms. The Diwali Fest in October/November is a big event which sees celebrations and music shows and exhibitions which attract lots of students. The biggest fest is undoubtedly the one held in February called Anugoonj. This sees the University gates opened up to all colleges affiliated to IP as well as other colleges (though the latter is only possible if you have the appropriate connections *ahem*). It is a massive event where the notable personalities come to perform. One sad thing is the uncomfortably huge rise in prices. It is understandable but doesn't mean we have to like it. However bottom line is - the IPU Fest a.k.a. Anugoonj is a very well organized and coordinated event which sees the seeds of the students' effort bear fruit.
The infrastructure is underwhelming. It isn't bad but there's definite room for improvement. The sports facilities go up to the extent of having a big ground and basketball and tennis courts but there are no formal clubs or equipment handling offices which can make it accessible to the public. One has to bring their own equipment. The central library is well maintained and discipline enforced which makes it a good place for serious learners to sit and work. The Wi-Fi is dicey affair. It merely includes the library and possibly the libraries of the respective colleges. The Law Library of USLLS is very underwhelming in the sense that there is a severe lack of updation. Indeed there are bare acts printed over two decades ago still in place instead of being exchanged for new and updated ones. The Constitution is also an older text with no updated ones present. It is pretty embarrassing during moot courts when these unupdated texts find their way to the judges table. Several text books need to be replaced and new and updated ones provided before it can gain respect from students. As of now, it is treated as place you go and chat rather than a place you go and learn. Though it seemingly is a long way off, with more investment and interest from the authorities, IP can definitely compete at the top.
our college offers 95% campus placements. many topmost companies like Infosys, tcs, etc. recruit students from our college. students are given training for the campus placements from 1st semester, there are 3 stages for placement in campus, first, two stages are exam conducted by recruiters and the last one is an interview, the most crucial round,in this stage the student has to give answers asked by the interviewer, more than 300 students were placed last year. if there is no placement for student then they can try off campus placements.and there are many other oppotunities.
The placement facility is very good in college, after 4th-semester student are eligible for campus placement 1st division marks, I heard that 18 lac package is the highest package offered and the 10 lac is minimum with a good amount of percentage, my plan is after getting a degree is litigation
We are provided with various other amazing facilities. Our campus is totally ragging free campus. All the classrooms are air conditioned and the teaching process is done with modern techniques. We get 24 hours free Internet and a central library with daily magazines, newspapers ,journals and many more.
The students are also provided with different types of projects which help them to learn about the basic principles of law. Different types of assignments help the students to understand the physical and the practical aspect of being a lawyer. The course curriculum of the college is really very strong.
AILET (All Indian Law Entrance Exam) is the mandatory and the only requirement to get into NLU. I got a good score out of 150 marks and hence I go the admissions in the first round itself. You can either apply online or in person.
This course needs exposure as much as possible hence the college make sure that we attend internships to gain an experience of a workplace before being recruited, Our seniors have worked under judges, NGOs, law firms, etc. Some of the companies that recruit from here are Singh and Singh advocates, Lexport, Reliance, Indian Oil, Kotak. Except those who feel like doing their masters in law, which is a lot, rest of the others get recruited.
