PMNM has really bought a lot of changes in me personally and professionally. After 12th I wasn't actually sure about what I wanted to do. Due to not at marked Ranking I didn't get MBBS, so the other opt was BDS. I would love to say, I'm proud that I choose PMNM; the best institute for dental sciences. The reason for opting for this college is because it's near to my home place. Coming to the good aspects; The way of teaching practically, friendly faculties, well-equipped classrooms, and preclinical, Best conductance of CD program and conferences. As the Bagalkot area is surrounded mostly by rural places, you get a lot of patients coming with dental issues. This improves skills and experiences. The College is best located away from city noises and pollutions. The campus has many benefits and required essentials. Some glitches: Students from Managements should undergo a lot of pressure from office staff every year during exam times( extra fees) ; management won't tell you this in beginning.
As a usual reason: I chose BDS because I didn't get MBBS BDS course is of 4year+1year (internship). The total is 5 years of course. In 1st year you will study the basics of medical sciences i.e Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Dental subjects i.e Dental Anatomy and Histology. 2nd year - General Pharmacology, General Pathology, Microbiology and Dental Materials, Preclinical Operative and Prosthodontics 3rd year - General Surgery, General Medicine, and Oral Pathology. Also, you'll be exposed to clinical in 3rd year which includes Cavity preparation, Denture making, Scaling, Extraction of teeth, etc. 4th year - Don't panic here!! Because you'll have to study 8 subjects.Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Conservative and Endodontics, Pedodontics, Periodontics, Public health Dentistry. 5th year - Internship !!!
There are no placements in medical colleges as in engineering. After completion of the degree, you can go for Post graduation in the same college or else joining an institution, start a dental practice and may otherwise go for government dental jobs.
Fees structure of Government seat: 55,500/- Management fees: Varies from 2lakhs to 6 lakhs annually Hostel fees+Mess: 62,000/-
Life in PMNM is super cool. Though stressful clinical you'll enjoy doing the work as well. Annually in the month of February, there will be a College fest which goes around 10 days. Lots of fun with cultural activities and social programs will be held. The other time in college...There will be CD Programs and department wise some competitions and discussions. Overall it has a healthy social environment.
PMNM has 3 hostels; 2 girls hostel and 1 boys hostel. The girl's hostel is well maintained, equipped, and well to stay environment. 3 people can stay in a room with an attached bathroom. The rooms are big and comfortable to stay. The mess is a nearby hostel and has not so likely food. But it's totally okay if you are not that foodaholic.
Admission is given on the basis of Rank and 12th marks. One needs to appear in NEET as they consider the rank scored in NEET. Minimum marks (in 12th) to be eligible to sit in counselling are 50%( in physics chemistry biology). One need to fill the college form from their website.
In medical college there is no such things as placement. Mostly students are planning to go for further studies. But yes some college do provide internship at a reputable place. Internship are paid and mostly students get around 3-4k/month.
There are many positive things in our college. The fees is less, infrastructure is good, education is good, faculty is good, and extracurricular activities are available. The only negative remark is there is no canteen for our college which is a bit difflculty students are facing.
My college is decent. I probably won't consider it the best college in the world. But the experience you get, the lessons you learn, and the value of dentistry is definitely brought out by my college. As long as you stay strong and get through this grueling process, you will look back and see how much you've grown thanks to all the circumstances that it's put you through. You'll not just gain friends, you'll gain a family
