VIT UNIVERSITY, Vellore
VIT has it's own entrance exam for MCA. Exam was fairly simple but highly competitive. There was no negative marking.
The general remuneration was around 3.3 lakhs. Most of the major IT companies like Infosys, CTS, Capgemini, Accenture came for Campus Recruitment. Big companies like Intel Through. Good, Amazon also hired students from VIT.I think almost everyone from my class was placed in one company or the other.
Hostels were top notch. There was a north indian mess and a south indian mess and an international mess. So we were spoilt for choices. Hostel charges were close to Rs. 60000 for a year and this included food and an AC single room.
Didn't have much interaction with Alumni's. Never needed to. I was very well placed and have gone onto make great strides in my career by myself. College seniors as well were cooperative but we didn't have much interaction with them.
Faculty was top notch, most of the professor were PhD holder and very well published. All of the professor had industry experience and were cordial towards the students.
Campus Life was very well rounded. You got enough time to play and study. Library was well stocked and staff was generally cordial. Though, college was strict when it came to guys and girls hanging out. There were strict enough to not let a girl and a guy walk hand in hand. It was literally impossible to get a hotel room for a VIT student in town and outside of it.
Exam structure is very well designed. We have 2 or 3 sessionals and a final semester exam. Your overall performance is derived from these. Also, the class assignments are taken into consideration for the overall grade. It's easy to get a 9 point CGPA in VIT. However, anything over 9 requires a major effort.
We used to have a big annual celebration called Rivera and college used to be shutdown for a week. Also, there were small fest that would happen all the year around.
LOAN/ SCHOLARSHIP PROVISIONS
I didn't avail any loan facility. However, most of the students have taken study loan from different banks.
