GECB is a well established Government Engineering College since 1999. The admission to BTech program is via KEAM entrance examination. The college has 3 labs for IT department. Around 260 students are there in the department with more than 30+ faculties. Most of the professors have done PhD or MTech from reputed institutes. Examinations were conducted without any fail. The level of difficulty of examinations were moderate. IT department in GECB has received more PPOs and placements compared to all other branches in 2020.
All the students did their internships during the semester breaks. The duration of internships was usually between 2 weeks to 2 months. There were on campus and off campus internship opportunities. Many students received PPOs after the successful completion of internship projects.
The placement opportunities at GECB are pretty good. Students are eligible for PPOs and placements after the sixth semester. Students have vibrant campus life at GECB. Our college arts fest 'Sargam' and our main college fest 'Aagneya' is conducted every year during February-April. Students get exposure to all kinds of activities during the college fests. Every talent is appreciated here. All the classrooms have projectors and other basic facilities for students. There is Ladies Hostel, Ladies Amenities Center , photostat center, Stationary shop and canteen inside the campus. The college also has all kinds of clubs that provides opportunity for students with similar interests to meet and collaborate on activities together.
Mechanical engineering is high scope for job opportunities both here and abroad. As mechanical engineering is my ambition too. There are 66 students in my class. And around 60 students in the rest of the branches. For 1 sem 6 subjects are there and 8 teaching staff are there including lab section. Though the classes are online through the live interactive section with recorded classes and PowerPoint presentations and animation it is better than offline classes. Teachers always there to help and guide and to clear any doubts at any time. Assignment and lab works are given in google Classroom with a scheduled time of submission. And internal marks are given according to performance like timely submission active interaction etc. In each semester 2-3 series examination conducted and is conducted online and is strict. It is not that difficult only 2-3 modules for each subject. It also helps to reduce the burden in sem examination.
Overall the college campus and extracurricular activities are quite good and also the faculties are also good but a negative is that the faculties are constantly changing. And also as an engineering college, there isn't any Union or election on the campus.
I only have postive thoughts about that campus. The campus helped me to remove my pre-occupations, inhibitions, fear etc. It gave a lot of memorable moments, large number of friends. The most special thing about the college is those memorable friendships with the faculties whos understand students very well.
Collage doesn't just mean that something you do after your 12th to get a degree and have a place in the society. Its where you recognize who you really are, what are you capable of. At least for me it was like that because of the facilities from my collage like the Hut Labs, you can create your IEEE membership which will be useful to you in many ways. And about the CIR, our collage is the first one to conduct SSR[Student Social Responsibility] and made it mandatory for all 3rd year student as part of academics. It is a project where we go to a town or city as a team, figure out some problems in it and solve it,its not just for marks, but during the process you face the society and see what the real life is like,so it was really a great experience for all of us which is also helpful to us in our future.
