One of the top colleges in the country that provides an opportunity for all the participants to learn from each other, discuss and improve on a daily basis Although I had an MBA from a reputed college previously I opted to go for another MBA just because it was IIM A. IIM A is the most academically rigorous B-School in the country. There shouldn’t be any complaints about this; as academics is the major reason why we go to a b-school in the first place. Given that you will be in a place which has an open library of knowledge like no other, it is only fair that you spend most of your time taking in as much of this as you can. The admission process involved an entrance exam followed by an Analytical Writing test, and an interview on the same day. I would recommend quora, shikha.com and colledunia.com to have a look for the review of any college before joining.
It is the flagship programme of the institute and rated as one of the toughest Management programmes to get admission in, IIM A has a complete case-study based course structure compared to the Lectures + Cases + Seminars mix at any other B-school. This means that subjects such as accounts will also be taught based purely on case studies. We had some of the most experienced pool of Faculty teaching us and catering to our queries. They were more mentors rather than just being regular faculty members. They all were management graduates and has experience of more than 10 years in the corporate. They were very much accommodating and we bonded with them, pretty nicely. The exam time is the most peaceful time, where you need to think about only one thing which is “Study” and everyone at IIMA is very good at it. There are other perspectives as well like it is not easy to fail at IIMA, given that you are at IIMA, you are smart enough.
The process for getting internship offers from companies invited by the Placement Committee bears some similarities to campus placements happening in colleges. Companies are invited to open applications, students put in their applications, companies evaluate these applications and invite selected candidates to go through an evaluation process on campus and are then given offers by companies. Students can choose which companies to apply to, and they can accept the first offer made to them or choose to apply for a limited number of companies from their remaining applications to see if they get a more desirable offer, thus foregoing their earlier offer. So in a way, students get a chance to choose what firm they would like to work for. It might not necessarily be their first choice, but it most certainly could be an acceptable choice.
I would say you will be eligible for placements after your 3rd semesters, almost 200companies visits campus to offers jobs to Associates and YES the placements are 100%. Highest Package: Rs 56 LPA. Average Package up at Rs 26 LPA.
The cumulative course fee for the two years was Rs. 19.5 lakh. I understand this is a huge amount but IIM was Government funded, initially, when they are established. Once the resources are in place, IIMs are now independent bodies with no funding. Hence, they charge fees. And to maintain the level of being a premier institute, very good faculty, guest lectures. But paying that fees are worth what you get in terms of knowledge and the placement package. The loan is easily available in the campus itself, so don't bother about that. Students from economically weaker section get financial support from the institution in both the first and second years. It is called the NBFA (Need-Based Financial Assistance). Students have to apply for that when the window opens for that and submit some documents required for this purpose. The eligible students get the amount deposited in their loan account. Some other scholarships are also available for meritorious students but that is for very limited students only.
Lots of it, if you want to. The scope is tremendous. There are lots of clubs and sports bodies- culturals, industrial interactions, marketing, fin, photography etc- you name it and you will have a club for that (if not, you can start one!) Just get into whatever interests you. You may need to prove your worth to get into a few clubs where many people want to get in. Even if you don’t get into a particular body, you will still have options of volunteering for them. IIMs have atleast one major event every quarter-by major I mean national level events. So, lots to do there. Also, if you are interested in sports, IIMs will have a sports team for every major sport and inter IIM sport meets also happen twice a year. Many people aspire to get into these clubs for the sake of buffing up the CV, and no harm in that. but getting into something you like will make the experience more enjoyable, as the clubs will demand serious contribution.
In order to crack the GD and PI, start preparing from the very beginning. Don’t wait till the CAT is over. After CAT, you only get two months to prepare for the GD and PI, which is not sufficient to crack the IIM interviews. In order to crack the GD and PI, you must be aware of what is happening around you. Make a habit of reading newspapers like The Hindu, ET etc. daily. Make yourself acquainted with sports, politics and economics. Apart from reading newspapers, read editorials, blogs, posts, novels, basically anything you lay your hands on. This will not only widen your horizon but will also give you the ability to analyze every situation under a different lens. This will help you in both GD and PI. Now let’s analyze the two topics one at a time: Group Discussion.

MICA offers 100% placements for summer internships as well as final placements. Every year MICA has the industry's best FMCG, E-Commerce and Media companies visiting to recruit students. Location is slightly disadvantaged as compared to other established colleges near Mumbai and Banglore, but it nowhere affects the overall placement statistics due to the brand name MICA has built over the years.
From mid to 4th trimester final placements begin. Summar placements begin in 2nd trimester. One offer per candidate policy is there. So once selected you can't sit for other companies visiting the campus. The package is quite decent. 95% of students get placed.
Som-lalit is well known college of Gujarat for tha master's course. And I have completed my graduation form the same college so I know all good and bad about my college. Som lalit provide good education skills and culture is also good around the college campus.
Som lalit provide placement at their campus. Average package is 250000 per year. There many good companies participate in placement process. Their selection process is GD and PI.
It was the best in terms of all aspects faculty, infrastructure, interaction sessions, events, activities, recreational sessions, group activities, research dicussions and execution, group discussions, interview sessions, excursion, counseling sessions. Apart from classroom knowledge real time experience corporate experience was given.
Can improve on faculties. Just 2-3 good experienced with good teaching skills. Should appoint new good teachers with no attitude problem and good teaching skills indeed.
Admissions are granted on the basis of merit in the CMAT exam. My CMAT score was pretty decent, but still, I have to wait for the second round of counselings. After that, I appeared for the interview round and Group discussion, which was pretty easy for me as I was practicing for the interview round and giving mock interviews.
Placements were okayish. Our institute had corporate tie ups with many reputable companies, which they used to invite for the campus placements. Packages offered were also good. the highest package went as high as 12 LPA, while the average package offered was of 4 LPA.
