I choose this college because it is a good college for commerce, it is one of the oldest colleges of Delhi University and with experienced faculty of commerce department. The admission process was based on merit and was very smooth. This was the best among the colleges I was eligible for with my marks.
I choose this course because I had a keen interest in various aspects of the commerce field and the curriculum of this course from Delhi University is very apt. The faculty is very experienced and co-operative, they make sure students understand every concept thoroughly, Faculty-student ratio is also alright, there are enough teachers for every subject. The faculty is highly qualified with most of the teachers have done PhD. Exams are not that difficult but they do check the concepts of students but if the students study properly then not much difficult to pass.
The college placement cell which works regarding the placements also works regarding the internship. All the students who get registered with the placement cell regularly receive updates regarding various internship opportunities.
Students are eligible for placements from 5th semester. KPMG, EY, Decathlon and many other companies visited the campus for placements. Average package is between 3 - 3.5 LPA. A good percentage of students get placed because a many companies visit every year for placements.
The fees is the best part about Delhi University, specially Motilal Nehru College is the college with one to lowest fees among Delhi University colleges and there is usually not much hikes every year. The cost to study is quite affordable for most sections of the society. Various financial assistance is available to those who need it.
The annual fest is usually in the month of February and departmental fest is also in Feburary because January to March these are months of fest all over the Delhi University. Library of Motilal Nehru College is one of the biggest library among Delhi University colleges in the amount of books it has. Classrooms are spacious and with proper ventilation. Sports and extra curricular activities also are an integral part of the college with facilities available for both. There are various cultural societies, department societies and other societies which students can join.
Third-year students can apply for placements whereas first and second-year ones can apply for internships. Around 25-30 companies visited our college for internships and 90% of the students get placed. Many of them are paid internships also. The highest package from our college is around 8-10 lpa. I will pursue MBA after graduation and our college also provides CAT coaching at very reasonable rates.
Placements for this course is not that great but it is improving every year. Last year Samsung and Kotak Mahindra Bank have visited the campus and recruited students at some handsome package of around 3-4 lakhs PA. But the company is very tough as nearly all the students want to be placed in their final year.
THE PLACEMENT CELL looks for internships for all years students and jobs for final years. Firstly, they analyze the need and interests of the students in which field they want to go for. After that, they start pitching companies for the same. In the month of February, INTERNSHIP FAIR was held every year where 50-60 companies( KVCH, TIMES OF INDIA, SHAREKHAN) came who offer internships to students. The stipend varies from company to company i.e. Rs.5000-15000. I have also given many interviews and selected for various internships. I have also worked in a placement cell and it was a great learning experience. In my first year, I have done an internship in KIND BEINGS. Placements are provided to final year students and profiles offered are marketing, HR, finance, etc. The average package is Rs.3 lakhs. The highest package offered was Rs.6.5 lakhs. Around 70% of the students get placements in different companies every year. I have planned to do MBA further.
Students from the first year itself can avail themselves of internship opportunities and for campus placements only final year students are eligible. The placement cell of PGDAV college is very active and keeps students updated with good career opportunities. Top corporate companies like EY, deloitte, wipro etc. Visited for campus placements. Number of offers and packages offered by these companies are fluctuating every year and can be accessible on college website. Not every student sit for placements so percentage of students getting placement could be lower. Profiles offered by the companies visited were not good enough except for some companies like EY. Not every student placed with good package, profile and company. But you can easily get job offer slightly lower than your expectations. I got some jobs offers from campus but I prefer to try for a job from outside after graduation and I got so.
Students are eligible for placements at starting of the final year Many companies come and create opportunities for eligible students to join them after clearing their recruitment process. The highest package goes around 600000 and average remains at 300000 for students which are good for Freshers. I m focusing on government jobs after getting a degree because I want a government job.
For better exposure and want to learn more about the corporate world plus I was fascinated by different kind of programmes and competitions being held in DU time to time.We get a chance to show our skills up and many more.
