The most generic and obvious reason is that it is an IIM irrespective of it is established in the near past. Being in IIM, one would get exposure to world-class faculty, campus life, and of course placements. It is also performing better than some of the other new and baby IIM's academic and placement-wise. Along with that, IIM Jammu provided an opportunity for International Exchange Program (IEP) which provides global exposure to students to study in the international partner institutions.

Students need to have a Summer Internship Placement after the 1st year of their MBA and then final placements after the 2nd year of the course i.e. after completion of the course. And placements are decent here. We get top brands as well as start-ups offering high to low stipend and CTC.
There are various top firms visiting campus like TATA, Deloitte, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra, HCL, Collegedunia, Paytm, L&T, Kotak Mahindra, DelMonte, and many more. The highest package for summers was 2 lakhs and for finals around 70 lakhs.
