My search for the best college for Bachelor of Computer Application took me here, at Ambedkar Institute of Technology. Yes, it is ranked number 3 among all the colleges of IPU for BCA. AIT is affiliated with IPU and offers 2 bachelor courses, i.e, BCA and B.Voc along with the diploma courses. The discipline and decorum of the college deserve the emphasis here. The admission process here is very simple. As per the latest cut-off, you need to get a rank under 700 and above 70% in the 12th boards. Though you can definitely get some relaxation under reservation. If you meet all the criteria, then all you gotta do is, freeze your seat from the uni website(freezing your seat does not ensure your admission into the college) and get all your documents verified from the college (physically). Here are a few reasons why I chose this college: 1.It's one of the best colleges for BCA. 2.Since it's a govt. college, the fees here are way less than other IPU colleges. 3.Not to forget, the formal dress code.
BCA, as the name says, is all about computers. If you want to get exposure to the IT field, you must go for this course. Talking about the faculties, they are very helpful and friendly at the same time. All the faculties are well qualified. The classes are very interactive. The faculties take care of each and every student's individual progress and definitely helps them bring out the best of themselves. Sessional exams are conducted once a semester and so are the minors. Though small class tests and activities like presentations, quiz are also held every once in a while for self-assessment.
A few companies also offer internships for the students. If the student is not eligible for the internship, they also have their training programs which help students develop their personality and enhance their skills even more.
The college has its own placement cell that conducts interviews from various companies like Wipro, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Concentrics and gives students the opportunity to get placed in these well known companies. The percentage of students getting placed is quite low. The average package offered is 2L pa. Students can opt for higher studies after completing the course.
The fees here (as I mentioned before) is very less in comparison to other IP colleges. This year it hiked to INR 39000 per year for BCA. There is no scholarship that the college offers but yes you can apply for the scholarship through the e-district. Also, there is this financial assistance scheme for students belonging to economically weaker sections by the university. Companies like Tech Mahindra, Deloitte and Wipro Technologies recruit students from the college. Since I was a fresher last year and was not able to apply for any internships at the time, I got a free training course from Tech Mahindra where we got to learn about real life projects, personality development and self grooming (for interviews).
Fest: IPU conducts a fest usually between Jan end and Feb. The college also conducts a fest around Feb and March called 'Amog'. There are no tech fests conducted by the college itself but you can get to participate in various hackathons conducted throughout the year representing your college. Library: All the books that we needed so far are already present in the library. Still, if there are any books that are not available in the library, you can inform the librarian about the same and they make it available for you in a few days. Classrooms and Labs: The classrooms are quite big and spacious. The labs are also maintained very well with the computer having all the latest software and processor. Sports: The students participate and represent our college in the sports meet conducted by the IP University every year around October. Though you get a court for practice on the campus. Societies: Eco club, Red Ribbon club, Optical Society of America(OSA)- AIT(for students interested in optics)
The placement of Siri fort Institute of management studies is excellent. They really provide a good opportunity to students by placing them in good companies where they can make their future. Students become eligible for placement in their 5th semester and one can go further. Different companies visited the college for placement. In the year 2018-19 the companies like Wipro, Amazon, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Tyson, Infosys, people scout, British telecom, Capgemini and a total 35 number of students placed in that year. The highest package for BBA is 3 lakhs per annum For BCA is 12 lakhs per annum and for B.Com(H) is 2.5 lakhs per Annum. After getting the degree I wanted to do a job and with that, I want to do MCA. So that I will get a good package. There are many students who got placed in different companies every year. College provides good placement opportunities and to get a good placement we have to work hard and get a minimum of 75%.
Jamia Hamdard has a training and placement cell that guides the students in choosing a good company. Activities Undertaken by the Placement Cell are: 1 Preparation of placement brochure for final placement. 2. Pre-placement visits to the companies. 3. General follow-up, joining formalities and other administrative activities. But no Placement for Open and Distance Learning.
I'm absolutely satisfied with the good placements offered in 2020. Above 80% of the students from our course got placed. Students from the BCA course recently got placed in SAP companies like Genpact, SAP, Infosys, etc visit our college for placements.
Placements are provided by Wipro, Amazon, SAP, IBM, BT Global etc. The pre-placement drives are also conducted by the institute to prepare the students for placements.
