It is one of the oldest and well-reputed colleges in the whole country. It has a very good alumni network and good placements especially for the core branches. Stands in 1st position in the list of top government colleges of the state. The official website of the college gives all the necessary information about the college.
I chose this course because of my interest in computer science and programming. The strength is quite less in the first year as compared to other branches but to see the positive side of it, it makes it possible for the faculty to focus on individuals in a better way.
The training and placement cell of the college always works for the betterment of the students and to a great extent has always been successful in bringing good companies to the college every year. It also supports the students in off-campus placements and internships with a good stipend.
Students can bag the PPO's from 3rd year if they are willing to go for campus placements or internships. Companies like tata steel, Adani, Deloitte, and many other companies recruit a good number of students from the college and also provide good CTCs. If the students have any ideas about start-ups or entrepreneurship, the college has their back. It has a start-up cell that supports such ideas and if they succeed to pitch in their ideas they also get help from the alumni of the college.
The college fees are surprisingly affordable for most people from different classes in society. Apart from that, there are various scholarships and different policies also provided by the government and also by the college. The placement is only improving in the coming years.
There are various clubs for the all-around development of the students. Name the activity and the college has it. It has various clubs each having their own importance and significance in the college. There are cultural clubs, technical clubs, sports clubs, and also an NGO called prayas India. FOYC i.e. the fresher of the year contest conducted by Leo club of BIT Sindri. Then there are tech fests conducted by hackathon and coding club and the annual sports fest , spardha and pratidwanda conducted by the sports club of the college.
The hostel facilities are the same as any government college but they've also been constructing many new buildings which will be accommodated by students in the coming years. The quality of food is pretty good than what I had thought. Also, we get meals 4 times a day which includes the evening snacks. The hostel facility is affordable.
We were told that there are campus placements. The various company comes for placement like Wipro, Infosys, TCS. As mentioned on the college website the highest package known to us is 15 LPA. I am willing to start my own startup after completing of course.
In most branches, students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th-6th semester. More than 100 companies visit every year with big names like Microsoft, Amazon, BPCL, HPCL, Tata Steel, etc. The number of offers to vary company by company year by year and branch by branch. Vedanta once offered 20+ and the very next year it offered just 3-4. The domestic highest package goes to the CSE branch of about 27 LPA by Amazon. The average package revolves around 8 LPA. Around 90% of students get placed but that varies branch by branch, say in the CSE branch it's 100% and some students even get multiple offers but in the CE branch it's about 40-50%. I am looking to go for MBA.
Students can sit for placements from the 7th semester. Nearly all the top companies come to college like Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, JP Morgan, capegemini, Barclays, KPMG, Deutsche Bank, Walmart, PwC, Mckinsey& company and many more top companies come every year to hire students. As per data, the Highest package was Rs54.57 lakhs pa to 7 students by GOOGLE. The average package of college is Rs 11lakhs pa as per data available on iitism.ac.in. Various profiles are offered from coding, data analyst, tech analyst, management consultant, consulting, finance, IT sector, health sector are present every year. I'm planning to get into Management consulting directly from college.
As I have mentioned earlier, placements for Btech are downright amazing. The average CTC given to the students was around 11LPA. Companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Indian Oil, Maruti Suzuki, Goldman Sachs, ZS Associates are some big names that actively recruit students from our college.
Placements at BIT Mesra are good. In ECE average package is around 10 LPA and a median of 9.5 LPA dream companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Atlassian, Walmart also come for campus providing packages more than 40 LPA and most of them take 10-15 students from the circuital branch. I am sitting for placement and further, I haven't decided.
The placements are really good. almost more than 80% of students get placed. 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements. Placements start from December ( for 7th sem students) and continue up to May or June (8th sem). Placement goes phase by phase like in the first phase (from December) IT, Management, and consultancy companies come. From the second phase, core companies start coming. then up to the third phase, all types of companies come and maximum students get placed. The highest package (in 2021 ) is Rs 48.30 lakh ( by a foreign company) in the CSE branch. The average package is 6LPA - 7LPA. Particularly in mining engineering, there is also good placements more than 90%.
The JCECE Board conducts the admission process for the BTech course in our College. It is a board constituted by the Government of Jharkhand for those who are willing to pursue B.Tech in Jharkhand. For getting admission into the M.Tech course, you will have to appear for a written test and an interview that is conducted by our institute. In addition to this, you will also have to provide a valid GATE course. Other than this, our College also offers research programs, and to get admitted into those, you will have to appear for an interview and a written test.
I am in my final year of B.Tech and have already received placements offers from some of the best companies. The package we are offered also varies somewhere between Rs. 4.5 lakhs and 10.5 lakhs per year. I personally believe that this is a good package for a beginner. Some of the companies that hire students from our institute include CESC Limited, Genpact, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., HCL Info System, IBM, Honda, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Aditya Birla Group, etc.
The college is overall good. Everything in this world comes with a bad or a good. So overall my conclusion is that if you can then this could be a better option for you. A few problems will be there but as a student, you need to learn to solve them for a better life.
