LBSIM, New Delhi
ENRICHING YET FUN
REMARKS
The management is there for quite sometime and are aware of thr market situations. The only thing required is a little more flexibility in their approach, rest it is a great college to learn and also enjoy your time here
ENTRANCE PREVIEW
CAT. This college generally requires 85%+ percentile in CAT. It has 60% CAT weightage and 40% GDPI weightage. I opted for this college, due to it's past placement and faculty records, low tuition fee(lowest amongst it's peers), and also due to it being in Delhi, gives us good industrial exposure
FEE STRUCTURE AND FACILITIES
It is the cheapest among all colleges in the same tier. During my time, the fees was total Rs. 5.25 lacs for 2 years and hostel fee extra. While, at the same time, colleges like Fore, IMI charged more than 8-9 lacs and even more. The food is also cheap in the canteen, and other expenses are also limited.
PLACEMENT WING
Due to it's presence in Delhi, it gets good placements. Recurring companies visit the campus and hire. LBS has a good name in corporates, due to good performance by Alumnus in their respective jobs. Companies in IT, consulting hire the most candidates. Almost 100% placements, with only those students who do not get through, even after sitting in mote than 12-13 companies, do not get through.
HOSTEL FACILITIES
Hostel is not available inside the campus. Students generally opt for flats nearby and others opt for hostel. New hostel building is ready now near the college in Dwarka. The canteen is totally revamped now and looks like a corporate canteen. Variety in the menu is also commendable.
ALUMNI
They are very helpful. The alumnus bring good no. of companies in the campus. The college also invites alumni to conduct sessions in college for new students, to make them aware about their expectations from the course, which I feel is a great initiative and I myself has conducted one such session.
FACULTY
Faculty is well qualified and spend a lot of time in researching and various faculties publish papers in their fields. The only problem with faculty is, that they are paid less compared to other colleges, and hence they leave after gaining 3-4 years' experience.
CAMPUS LIFE
The college does well in extracurricular. The students represent the college at various big fests in MDI, IMT, IIMs and win big accolades. The gender ratio is poor with around 3:1 in favor of boys. For sports, given the small size of campus, there are only indoor games lile TT, badminton are available. Various clubs are there, and they participate in inter college competitions. We also organise TedX every year in Feb.
EXAM STRUCTURE
There is a trimester system, with exams every 4 months. In first year, some people may feel like school, due to the kind of classroom teaching and exam structure. But the same gets much better when you opt for specialisations in your second year. The faculty is also much more learned and experienced in 2nd year.
COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
The course was panned out nicely, especially in 2nd year, where the emphasis is more on case studies discussion and presentations. Good corporate interactions, and interactions with various senior industry officials. Overall a good learning experience.
INTERNSHIPS OPPORTUNITIES
Yes, almost all students get internship. Some companies offer stipends and some dont. Stipends vary from 0 to Rs. 75000 per month, for a finance company.
COLLEGE EVENTS
Many events are celebrated. First is Outreach program, in which students travel to 8 cities, to meet corporates and discuss about the college and talk about placements. Then cultural week is celebrated. The college celebrate the birth anniversary of Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri, by giving lbs national award to a personality who has done a great job in their respective fields. The same is given by the Hon'ble President of India, in the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
LOAN/ SCHOLARSHIP PROVISIONS
The college doesnt offer any kind of scholarship or loan, though you can easily get loan from any bank for the fees.
