Remarks :
Well, it's one of the best and cheap colleges in India. Faculty, opportunities wise the college is incomparable. But separate playgrounds for different sports is the need of the hour along with the formation of the union rather than the council.
Entrance Preview :
Merit List.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum of the college is undoubtedly one of the best across the whole of India. The course minutely includes all topics which prove to be helpful in IIT jam and other competitive exams. The course is, of course, a bit vast but teachers over here make it look easy.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, the college does provide the internship where the interested students contact the E-Cell of JU by emailing their CV. Since I m in the first year so till now I don't have a personal experience but I hope I will soon be able to share my experience.
Placement Experience :
The placement and job opportunities of our university mainly for the B-Tech is very good. Nearly 90% of students get placement every year with an annual package of Rs 4 lac to 2 crores. That's the reason it is India's top 10 university(Non-IIT). However, in the BSc mathematics department, the placement is nearly zero.
College Events :
Events like Ibtida, union gathering, Reunion, freshers', farewell, departmental picnic, etc are a part and parcel of Jadavpur University. Inter-department sports, singing, dancing, etc are also organized from time to time.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure is one of the major reasons for the popularity of Jadavpur University. The fee structure is nominal. My one year fee including admission fee is just rs 1840 i.e 153 rs per month which is very cheap. Also, no additional charges are being levied on students. That's the reason you will also find meritorious students from economically weaker sections in Jadavpur.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Since the fee structure is so cheap especially in my department that no one takes a loan to pursue an education in Jadavpur. Yes, there are many scholarships for both boys and girls but the one I have been involved with is SHE where if the student gets selected to receive a sum of Rs 60000 per year for studying.
Campus Life :
Extracurricular activities are also very good over here. Students get many opportunities in sports and events like inter-department sports competition used to happen every now and then. Labs are well built and quite big in dimensions. But one thing I find missing is separate grounds for cricket, football, tennis, basketball, etc.
Hostel Facilities :
Well, I would rate them above average. The old hostel is not so good but the new hostel is very nice and the mess quality over there is brilliant. Infrastructure is satisfactory and is still improving day by day. The facilities are also good but not excellent I must say. But again the quality of teaching is very excellent.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni network is a very special thing that exists in Jadavpur. Almost every year department wise reunion takes place where all alumni are invited for a small get together where they share their experiences. Also, there is a whatsapp group where teachers, seniors, alumni are present where one can share his problems be it educational or personal
Exam Structure :
The exam structure is very well organized. From filling up the form to getting admit cards all the processes take place online. The conduction of the exam occurs in a very fair and organized manner. The examination fee is also very less nearly rs 44, unlike the other colleges.
Admission :
Basically, the process of admission is quite similar to DU's and other graduation colleges across India i.e Merit list based admission. Firstly students need to fill the online form and then a number of shortlisted student lists are being on its website and students are required to visit the college on a specified date along with their documents for admission. One thing I must include is that the only name on the list does not guarantee admission as the list of nearly 500-600 students are being published but only the top 100 of the present student from the list gets the admission. Here in my department, there are nearly 100 seats in which around 60 - 65 are reserved for Bengal board students and rest for CBSE, ISC, other boards, etc. The cut off remains quite high nearly 95 %. Mainly two rounds of counseling happen for admission. In the first round, nearly 80-85 students get admission while others are suggested to wait for the 2nd list or counseling.
Faculty :
The faculty of not only our department but the entire college is very good. All the faculty members are helpful, dedicated and knowledgeable. In our department faculty members remain very active and are always ready to help and guide us in every way possible
