Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is globally benchmarked with AACSB standards, offering an industry-ready mix of case studies, corporate analytics and technical exposure. A major factor that affected my decision was the Bloomberg lab, which bridges theory with real time financial market data. The trimester system features regular mid terms and final exams every 3 months. The exam difficulty is high which tests the application of the theory taught in the college, though the clear rate is strong. The institute incorporates more live project opportunities within the local core terms to boost immediate field readieness and improvement.
Internships Opportunities
The Corporate Relations Cell (CRC), facilitates full time summer internship opportunities for students at the end of First Year. Prominent companies visit the campus and offer stipends for roles like Financial Analyst, Commercial Banking Trainee, and Corporate Finance Interns.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible from the 4th trimester onwards. The placement rate is consistently nearby 100%. Prominent recruiters include Delloite, KPMG, Pwc, EY and market firms like Motilal Oswal, Oxane and ICICI Bank. The average domestic package stands comfortably around 12,40,000 and the top 10% of the batch secures close to over 16,00,000. Prominent roles offered include - Management Trainee, Financial Analyst and Consulting roles for finance students. My immediate plans after the degree is to secure a core placement in an Equity Research Role.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for the flagship program at Lal Bahar Shastri Institute of Management for the general category is 17,50,000. The fees is unifrom across all 4 core specialisations. The total cost is split into 4 installments payable over 2 years to ease financial commitment. For the first year, the students pay an installment of 4,95,000 followed by the 3 installments of 4,10,000 over the course. In addition to the tution fees, there are several institutional fees that candidates have to bear. These include a refundable security caution desposit of 10,000, a lifetime Alumni foundation fees of 15,000, a Management Grid fees of 50,000 and a fees of 25,000 for the Outbound Leadership and the Rural Immersion. The current fee structure displays an upward trend compared to past batches. To support students financially, the institute provides a merit based scholarship valued at 1,00,000 for select meritorious students. The campus is fully air-conditioned with ultra-modern facilities and learning resources, most notably a state of the art, Bloomberg lab, that allows students of Finance to track and analyse real time financial market movements. The campus is highly functional, featuring smart classrooms, an extensive double floored research library, and a 300-seater auditorium for any lectures and sessions for students. The institute has an excellent record in placing its students thanks to the robust performance of the corporate placement cell. The average sits at around 12,32,000 for the batch, while the top 10% of the batch sits at over 16,00,000 annualy, through major corporate recruiters like KPMG, PwC, Delloite, Bain & Co, and core market firms like Motilal Oswal, Oxane Partners and ICICI bank. The institute maintains a highly responsive and respected alumni base built over three decades, providing students with direct mentorship and exceptional networking pathways.
Campus Life
The social life in the campus is highly energetic. The institute has various management, sports and cultural festivals like Tatva, and the annual Run for Education. These student driven events serve as a central hub for peer bonding and hosting competitive corporate challenges that draw massive participation. There are many student-run academic and non-academic clubs and cells that boost the personal skills of all the students and makes us focus on more than book learning as part of the PGDM.
Admission
I chose LBSIM over FORE, NIA Pune because of its superior corporate reputation and specialed finance focus. LBSIM offered the best ROI and corporate exposure compared to its peers. The admission process requires a valid CAT/XAT/GMAT score(80+ percentile preferably) followed by a highly structured Group Discussion and a Personal Interview assessing General Awareness and analytical aptitude.
Faculty
The student-to-faculty ratio is very balanced, well within the 1:25 institutional bracket, which ensures personalised mentorship. Over 45+ core faculty members hold doctorate degrees and posses decades of combined industry and research expertise. The 2 year, AICTE approved, PGDM curriculum is globally benchmarked, keeping up with the active industry trends so that students are completely corporate ready. The course operates on a trimester system, consisting of 6 terms in total. The exam structure is highly rigorous, utilising a mix of mid terms, case analysis and end term exams. The evaluation scheme puts a 60% weightage on continuous internal assessments like quizzes, projects and presentations and 40% on formal end term exams.
Interview Experience
Yes, the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their percentiles in national exams, and called for an offline GD and interview round. The Group Discussion focused on current economic developments and various socio-political issues. The Interview panel places strong emphasis on academic fundamentals and general awareness. Questions include undergraduate concepts, current market trends and clarity regarding goals and career choice of specialisation. For preparation, Reading a newspaper is a must and revision of important concepts from graduation and most importantly facing mock interviews are vital.
Night Life
The campus has a fully air conditioned Cafeteria which acts as a central hub for students to unwind, interact and engage in group assignments. The strategic location of the institute provides students with various nearby locations to visit. The area is well lit and secure for students to travel at night.
