- My Overall Experience at college has been very positive.
Course Curriculum Overview
I usually don't prefer rote learning, so the four year syllabus here was a huge relief because it actually focuses on modern statecraft and real defense policies. Right in my first year, i was diving into "War, Peace and Diplomacy" while picking up Spanish on the side. In the later semesters, i got into economic diplomacy, which is great. Plus, i get to switch into a specialized research track in my final year, giving me a massive head start for whatever i do next.
Internships Opportunities
I appreciate the level of importance that the institution puts on practical exposure. This is achieved through compulsory internships during both the winter and summer periods, and we have no other choice but to learn from the theoretical lessons in class by applying them in practice. For my internship, i was at Lancers Risk Consulting, where i drafted various policies and analyzed live conflicts in different regions of the world. Others interned at places such as Rasina House, Asia Society Policy Institute Delhi, and Hozint.
Placement Experience
I feel pretty secure about my career because our training opens door that normal degrees just can't match. Our seniors land roles as risk analysts and foreign policy researchers, even secruing great spots at top think tanks right after graduation. Some even interned at Niiti Consulting, and others got into ShowTime Consulting and Stimuler. Seeing people land roles at Lead Tech and the BCG Graduate Apprenticeship Program gives me massive confidence for placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
I definitely hesitated at first because the tuition and hostel fees are way higher than those at regular colleges. But looking at the global exposure and the crazy good facilities here, it feels worth the price. I'm really glad the university doesn't let money stop good students from attending, since they offer solid merit cum means scholarships.
Campus Life
I vibe so well with the cohort here because the campus feels like a melting pot of different cultures. i can just casually hang out with people from all over the world who actually care about global politics and can sit and debate it for hours. Between running around for MUNs, debate preparations, and fests, there's barely any time when i can feel lonely. Also, we get actual diplomats and global leaders coming down to campus just to chat with us, which is a wonderful experience.
Admission
I didn't expect the admissison process to be this thorough, but they honestly look at who you are rather than just your grades. I just filled out the online form explaining why i'm into global affairs, and they looked at my JSAT and SAT scores for the initial screening. The personal interview was the real test, through. The panel didn't just grill me on school marks; they actually wanted to see if i knew what was happening in the world and could hold a real conversation.
Faculty
I still find it amazing that my professors have worked in actual diplomatic situations and hold degrees from top global universities. Classes aren't just about them dictating notes while we mindlessly write; they're constantly pushing me to argue and question everything about politics. The best part is that professors are approachable and are open to mentoring you.. From clarifying doubts around a concept discussed in class to dicsussions on career asprirations, they are available. It makes a huge difference.
Night Life
I usually need a way to de stress after a long day of lectures, and the campus at night is perfect for that. Because everyone lives here, the whole place stays active and completely safe even way past midnight. I'm always hanging out with my friends at the late night food courts or grabbing coffee when we're bored. Whether we're fighting over foreign policy at 2 AM over snacks or just sitting out on the grass doing nothing, the vibe here is unmatched.
