Application Cycle

Complete application forms must be submitted by the first week of September to UCAS. 

Final Deadline for Entry applications:

  • Mid of October – Deadline for most of the courses at Cambridge and Oxford. Mostly for medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry and other institutions.
  • Mid of January – Deadline for majority of undergraduate courses. 

The international students shall be shortlisted by colleges. Documents must be uploaded timely and applications should be submitted before November. Decision about the admission is notified by the college, usually around April. 

Top Scholarships for international students in the UK

Scholarships for post graduate and doctoral courses in the UK are not open for all the candidates, as they have strict eligibility criteria. 

1. Chevenching Scholarships 

  • Level of study: Master’s 
  • Countries eligible: 144 countries. Around 700 scholarships are awarded every year. 
  • Applications dates: August - October/November (usually). 

2. Commonwealth Scholarships

  • Level of study: Master’s and PhD (undergraduate-citizens of St. Helena and the Seychelles only)
  • Countries eligible: 62 commonwealth nations
  • Eligibility criteria: commonwealth citizen, refugee or British protected person and at least 2:1 Honours degree.
  • Applications open: August before the course is due to start
  • Amount: Typically covers tuition fees, a monthly living allowance and travel to and from the UK.

3. Saltire Scholarships

  • Level of study: Master's
  • Countries eligible: Canada, India, Pakistan, USA and China
  • Other eligibility criteria: Offers a place at Scottish university to study Master's in any one-Science, Technology, Creative Industries, Healthcare and Medical Sciences or Renewable and Clean Energy 
  • Applications open: October, till May. 
  • Amount: 50 scholarships worth 10,538.58 USD.

4. The Australia Foundation Trust 

  • Eligibility Criteria: Australian citizens entitled to live and study in the UK
  • Level of study: All levels
  • Applications date: November - April 
  • Amount: Maximum 13,173.23 USD.

5. Mackenzie King Memorial Scholarships

  • Level of study: Master's/PhD
  • Eligibility criteria: Degree from any Canadian university with a minimum grade A, across all courses
  • Applications open: January 
  • Amount: Open scholarship worth 11,197.25 USD (only one is given out per year), and travelling scholarships worth 13,831.89 USD.   

6. China- Great Scholarships

  • Level of study: Postgraduate
  • Eligibility criteria: Offer for an eligible applicant per course at any one of the participating universities 
  • Applications open: Varies across institutions.
  • Amount: Total 150 scholarships of approximately 1,317,315 USD. 

7. BAFTA Scholarships

  • Level of study: Master's
  • Eligibility criteria: Chinese national seeking to study a postgraduate course in the field of film, television or games
  • Applications open: March (closes in June)
  • Amount: Maximum 13,173.15 USD to cover tuition fees and up to 6,586.57 USD for living expenses. 

8. Inlaks Scholarship

  • Level of study: All levels (but you must have an undergraduate degree)
  • Eligibility criteria: Undergraduate degree, and must have been accepted on to your chosen course at a ‘top ranking' institution
  • Applications open: January - April.

9. The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarships and Felix Scholarships are also available.

10. Scholarship for students from USA in the UK

  • Level of study: Master's/PhD
  • Eligibility criteria: An undergraduate degree with a minimum 3.7 grade point average and endorsed by the applicant’s undergraduate university
  • Applications open: Late Spring, the year before the applicant is supposed to start studying.

11. Fulbright Commission Scholarships are also provided.
