IITH B.Des FAQs
Ques. What exam is required for B.Des admission at IITH?
Ans. Admission to the B.Des programme at IIT Hyderabad is through UCEED, the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design conducted by IIT Bombay. UCEED 2026 was held on January 18, 2026, with results declared in March. Eligible candidates then participate in JoSAA counselling to receive seat allotments at IIT Hyderabad and other IITs offering B.Des programmes. JEE Advanced is not required for B.Des admission.
Ques. What specializations are available in IITH B.Des?
Ans. The B.Des programme at IIT Hyderabad covers three main design tracks: Product Design, Visual Communication, and Interaction Design. Students are introduced to all three through a broad first-year curriculum before focusing on their chosen domain. The INDReA Lab on campus supports Interaction Design research with augmented and virtual reality tools, while the 3D printing, clay, and animation studios serve all three specializations.

B.Des graduates from IIT Hyderabad typically pursue careers in product design, UX design, interaction design, visual communication, and graphic design at technology companies, design studios, and consultancies. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate programmes such as M.Des at IITs, NID, or international design schools after completing their B.Des degree.
