Ans. IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest Engineering and Technology colleges in India. An excellent placement record ever since it’s the foundation is held by the college, right from the department of mining to an exceptional upgrading placement log in Computer Science (CSE). Ranked 51 among the Engineering Colleges of India by NIRF in 2019, NIT Silchar is among the prestigious institutes specialized in departments like civil, mechanical, electronics, mining including Computer science (CSE) mentioned on the official site and some other reliable websites to be contemplated. Placement: IIEST Shibpur: Almost 90% of students got placed in Microsoft, Google, Amazon, IBM, and a lot more prestigious companies from a CSE vantage point mentioned in some official government sources with the highest CTC of 39.12 Lakhs. Ans. IIT & NIT are different in a number of ways and judging on the placement figures, one should not make any decisions. Although old NITs may offer better placement as compared to the IIT Bhubaneswar, there are few factors that make IIT Bhubaneswar a worthy choice. IITs have a brand value that is globally recognized however NITs as a brand don’t offer the same. They demand higher cut off marks during selection as compared to NITs. This results in a better quality of students and in turn better placements.  IITs offer better engineering faculties, however being a new IIT, it still does not have the required number of faculty members. IIT Bhubaneswar collaborates with esteemed institutions like ISRO, DRDO, BARC, etc. Students of IIT Bhubaneswar receive cushy internship offers from some of the globally renowned organizations like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. NITs research work is not at the same level. With a spacious campus and state-of-the-art research labs, IIT Bhubaneswar provides good infrastructure. Past placement records from NITs indicate that the average pay package offered to the students (B.Tech) is somewhere between Rs 40,000 and 42,000 monthly. Whereas, the average CTC Offered at IIT Bhubaneswar was around 11.44 LPA. 39 LPA was the highest CTC. PSUs like ISRO, DRDO, IOCL, HPCL, ONGC visited the campus for recruitment. Other top recruiters were Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, L&T, Deloitte, Directi, Reliance Industries, IBM, Tesco, Samsung, Apple Inc, Adobe, Tata Steel, Tata Power, Trident Group, UnitedHealth Group, etc. A total of 89 companies visited the campus for placement drive. Although, variance among the salary packages depends on the ability of candidates and academic performances. All institutes have their pros and cons, so choose an institute based on which course you are interested in and how good is that specific course in that institute.   Read more

NITS has a good rank among the NIT(s) and with the marks i obtained, it seemed to be the best option for me. Also it is located in my homestate. The college has a large campus with many lakes and green all around. It also has the Asia's biggest digital library. The course i opted is BTech in Mechanical Engineering as this is the field i would like to study further.

Prestigious institution, known for good placement scenario, it's also nearer to my place and a handful of my family members studied there and that's how heard about it. Other prominent reason can be the greed of being tagged as an NITian.

It's Among the top 10 NITs and a very prestigious Institute for students interested in engineer or research work with great job opportunities. Almost 95% of the students from many courses got placed with the highest salary package of 32 LPA. The average salary package offered is 7.2 LPA. There are many professors who have completed PhD so that the education system will be much better.
