Ans. Both NIT Jalandhar, as well as the PEC Chandigarh, provides full-time 4-year long UG courses for CSE and ECE. NIT Jalandhar has been ranked 52 by the NIRF rankings this year, while the PEC Chandigarh has been ranked 68 by the NIRF. The PEC Chandigarh is a Deemed University while NIT Jalandhar is a Government Institute. Admission:- NIT Jalandhar offers a B.Tech in CSE, while PEC Chandigarh offers a BE course in ECE. Both the Colleges consider the marks of JEE Mains and the 12th marks by creating the merit list. The minimum requirement for admission is 60% in-class 12th at PEC Chandigarh, and 75% at NIT Jalandhar. As both the colleges come under the government funding both of these have similar fee structures and there is no such big difference between them. The total course fee at NIT Jalandhar is 5 Lakhs, whereas the total course fee at PEC Chandigarh is 4.6 lakhs. The cutoff rank for ECE and CS at these institutes are as follows. NIT Jalandhar, CSE 9667 (Round 7) PEC Chandigarh, ECE 14274 (Round 7) Placements:- The NIT Jalandhar has a great alumni network for the CSE department, while PEC is better in terms of placement for ECE due to the core companies visiting the campus every year. NIT Jalandhar: According to the 2020 placement statistics the placement rate for the institute is 93%. The highest CTC and average CTC received by the CSE students are respectively 39.3 LPA and 13.12 LPA. Even two students from the institute got an off-campus placement of almost 65 LPA in Google last year. Almost 129 Companies visited the campus with Deloitte, Microsoft, Oracle, Adani Group, Kirloskar Oil Engines, Accenture, and Adobe Systems India Pvt Ltd included. PEC Chandigarh: As far as the 2020 placement placements are concerned the placement rate was 83%. The highest CTC received was 17.3 LPA. The average CTC recorded was around 7 LPA. There were almost 56 participants in the campus placement with top recruiting companies like Deloitte, Amazon, JP Morgan, LinkedIn, Flipkart, Tech Mahindra, Mercedes Benz, Cleartrip, Intel, etc. PEC Chandigarh is quite famous in North India, while NITs have great recognition all over the world so it can be said in terms of brand value NIT Jalandhar is ahead. Also as far as placements are concerned, the CSE has an edge over the ECE. In every aspect may it be the placements, the overall fee structure, the faculty, the infrastructure, or the overall brand value, choosing CSE at NIT Jalandhar over the ECE in PEC Chandigarh would be more preferable.Read more

Ans. First, you should decide which course you want to pursue B.E. in Electronics or B.E. in Civil Engineering as that would help in comparing institutes and choose the one with the better program. NIT Surathkal is considered to be one of the best colleges in the country to pursue engineering courses. NIRF 2020 has ranked the institute at 13 for its BTech program. Whereas ranked at 68 for BTech by NIRF 2020, PEC is also one of the Pioneer engineering colleges of the country that imparts quality education in engineering. Admission: NIT Surathkal- The total fee for BTech in Civil Engineering program in NIT Surathkal is 5.39 lakh. The basic eligibility is that the student must have passed the 10+2 examination with 75% marks from any recognized board and the admissions are based on JEE Mains rank. The closing JEE-Main cutoff for Civil in 2019 was 17125 (Other State), 28144 (Home State). PEC- The total fee for BTech in Mechanical Engineering at Punjab Engineering College is 3.87 lakhs. The basic eligibility requirement is that the student must have passed the 10+2 examination with 75% marks from any recognized board and the admissions are based on JEE Mains rank. In 2019 the closing cutoff for Mechanical at PEC was 30804. Placement : NIT Surathkal offers decent placements for Civil. However, there are not many core companies visiting the campus for Civil Engineering students. Some of the major recruiters like Microsoft, Intuit, Sprinkler, Goldman Sachs, etc. visit the placement drive each year. On the other hand, Punjab Engineering College has an impressive placement rate. The major companies visiting the campus for recruitment are Google, Amazon, Hatach, Havells India, American Express, HCL Infosystems, etc. Institute NIT Surathkal PEC Average CTC 22 LPA 9 LPA Highest CTC 49 LPA 42 LPA These are a few of the factors that should be considered while choosing between Civil at NIT Surathkal and Electronics at PEC University. So, go through them and decide which option will be better for you.Read more

PEC is One of the best university after IITs, has good placements and oppurtunities. The program is well defined and the entire semester i.e. 6th semester is the best thing about PEC through which one gets experience of the corporate world and can make clear decisions, we also have chances of Pre placement offer(PPO) and are then free in 4th year to do whatever one aims for, preparing for better companies or post grad. Hostels are also there in campus which also is beneficial. The placement cell works really hard for placements and internships and placement percentage has increased significantly. Besides other NITs, PEC is far better in terms of placements and its engineering program. One mu...

PEC is a reputed institution. It provides enough opportunities and flexibility to students to realize whatever they are passionate about. The curriculum is also relatively modern. It is not as good as many of the IITs but is still pretty good. Before getting admission, a few people told me that PEC is an old college with is deteriorating with time. I talked to a few other people, some recent pass outs and came to know that it may not be able to inspire and improve students who aren't that intelligent passionate or self-motivated , But there is surely a lot for people with some ambition to do well in anything they like, be it academics, research, higher education, placements, sports, coding, ...
