The Ph.D. program is specialized in 6 specializations namely Computational Biology (CB), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), Mathematics, Social Sciences & Humanities (SSH), Human-Centred Design (HCD).
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the relevant subject is the minimum requirement to be eligible for Ph.D.
Admission is granted on the basis of a Written Test followed by a Personal Interview.

The admission takes place in two rounds, Monsoon (February to April) and Winter (September to November). The admission process is solely online.
There are two modes of Application Procedure, for students are Rolling Admission and Regular Round Admission.
There are two categories of Admission, one is Regular Ph. D, for those who are not holding any kind of regular employment and are primarily in their academic program. And the other one is Sponsored Ph. D, for those who are working in the sponsored organization but are highly motivated to take up Ph. D degree while they are working.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi provides fellowship for the students enrolling themselves for the Ph. D course. They get a monthly stipend of Rupees 31,000 in the first 2 years. They will get Rupees 35,000/- stipend for 3 and 4th years. The 5th year stipend is rupees 30,000.
