Fee structure was 'feasible' as there was a grant from UGC. However, later it was withdrawn which resulted in the course becoming a little expensive. The mode of payment was through a DD. Apart from the standard structure of tuition fees and related adminstrative charges, there were no other amounts charged per semester. the fee breakdown used to be completely transparent.
Course curriculum was interesting though and there was focus on creative approach to problem solving. It was designed to train oneself to be logical and assertive. While there are views on it being fair, theoretical and relevant to market conditions, people would be unanimous in stating that it was tedious, exhaustive and thorough. This helped in adapting oneself to the market easily when we were exposed to it.
The fees is feasible since it?s a govt institution, under MHRD. The college accepts SBI collect payment- online and offline mode. There is a security deposit to be submitted. Yes, there is a full breakdoen of the fee available on the website.
The course curriculum is largely based on practical knowledge and hands on experience. There are trips, site visits, excursions which provide a holistic approach to learning. The experienced faculty also gives an insight to the real world. All these make the students better humans and professionals.
Tuition fee is ?52, 000. Hostel fee is ?19, 000. Mess fee is ?25, 000. Hostel is not compulsory. Local students must travel from their homes. For current first years the tuition fee is hiked to ?97, 000. As compared to other national colleges it might seem feasible. But it is also true we have spend so much externally for the course like huge printouts and making models. No additional charges are taken.
The course is design based. We have arts subjects like visual arts and also engineering subjects like theory of structures. Some subjects like seminar and dissertation and research based also. We are given computer training for software also. The final semester is thesis where we have to imply all our learning. Also in 8th semester we have to do a compulsory intership as per the course. We are given B. Arch degree.
The course itself is very lengthy and thorough and very good, but the output isn't worth it. The profession doesn't let you earn much as architects aren't paid well in India and are grossly undervalued.
Though college is not very good in infrastructure but it has best faculty throughout India, most of the famous Indian architects graduated from here, like Raj Rewal, not so Industrial exposure but we get a lot of professional experience during our academics as practicing architects teach here, and it gets almost 90 percent while our internship during 8th sem.
The fee structure is feasible, you can pay thru all modes (internet banking, cheque, upi apps,DD,If you want to pay thru cash you can do so via canara bank affiliated with the college). No additional fees required for admission, the college gives a full break down of fee.
Unlike other courses architecture is taught by actual architects,so your are taught by people who actually work in the field. As for placements all architecture students are supposed to do a mandatory internship in 4th year. You have study tours and site visits every semester.
Feasible for nongate scholars. Gate scholars will get 12k stipend every month which will be useful for their dialy routine, transport charges and study trip expenses and hostel fees. For non gate scholars, it looks little expensive as study trip expenses will be on their own.
At SPAD, Planning course will have four semesters, first semester will be having integrated semester comprising of five department ( Housing, Environment,Transport,Urban planning and Regional planning) after second semester everybody will go into their concerned respective departments. In all the planning courses, major concerned will be based on choosing a place within India as a casestudy and having detailed study about dat city in their own respective department.
The feasibility of college varies as per individual. Roughly for admission fee, mess fee and hostel fee, it comes around 150000 per year. Along with that there are many expenses like field visit, everyday travelling, trips, stationary and other expenses.
Exams are conducted once in a semester (in the end). Assignments are given each week and marked accordingly. We get a time of one week to complete assignment of each subject which is not a bad deal. Also we get weekends off to have some time for relax after 5 days of classes and submission.
The payments are made at start of the academic year by DD. The fee break up was transparent. The fees was feasible when I had taken admissions. But it has increased by leaps and bounds since, without any new amenities to justify it. The hostel and other day to day expenditures are manageable. There is a cost for stationary throughout, for print outs and architectural models. In the initial years, the cost is minimal, with only the semester end finals becoming a costly affair. One can be expect a cost of around 5000 per month during these months. As the scale of the project increases, so does the stationary expense. The thesis project will surely burn a hole in the pocket. Depending on whethe...
The course expands over 10 semesters; one of them is an internship at an architectural firm. The subjects covers design, supplemental technical subjects and theoretical subjects that vary across the semesters. Most of the weightage is given to timely assignments spread across each semester. Some subjects have an exam at the semester-end while others have a jury, that is an evaluation of the work by an external member. The exams do not require much effort. Through out the course our hands our full with the assignments; sleep and lifestyle habits may be compromised. The semester end ensures a hectic schedule that becomes incredibly tough, specially for the last-minuters. A few subjects' assignm...
Since its a government college under the central government its fee is quiet low. Its nearly about 1Lakh per year and for the different categories like obc,sc,st its 47 thousand per year. It includes all the necessary lab and cultural funds not the mess charges which are 16 thousand per semester
The entire course is broken in many tiny detailed study of various parts of architecture, in short architecture is also another type of engineering. We do have some experimental labs and semester end exams. The entire semester is not very hectic depending on the work you do.
Thanks for your valuable feedback. Our team will look into it.
