Ques. Which is better, IT in BVM or EE in PDPU?

● Top Answer By Karishma Khatri on 19 Apr 21

Ans. If you choose Electrical Engineering (EE) in PDPU, then you will definitely get a job, as this institute has a better EE department. But you must maintain your CGPA of approximately 9. One of my friends has studied in this institute, and he told me that it is easy enough to maintain this score in PDPU. In the following, a brief overview has been given, considering these two institutes. Criteria BVM PDPU Highest CTC 18 LPA 19.20 LPA Lowest CTC 2 LPA 3-4 LPA Average CTC 4 LPA 6-7 LPA Placement statistics 60-65% 80% However, if you get selected in MNCs (IT and corporate jobs), they may bore you after a few years. So, if you desire to pursue your career in this field or want some experience, you can select a stream based on their preferences. However, my friend studied Petroleum Engineering (B.Tech) in 2015-2019 from PDPU.Read more

Ques. Which one are the best colleges in Ahmedabad for an MBA with good placements?

● Top Answer By Shivani Tiwari on 08 Apr 21

Ans. We are all familiar with the fact that Ahmedabad already has a good number of MBA colleges. To name a few - Nirma, IIM A, PDPU, etc. but the one that almost everyone would recommend is Narayana Business School or NBS.  They have a 100% placement record. NBS will prove to be the best, if you are all set to put your time, efforts and money into ROI.  You would witness drives that MNC giants participate in are - MTS, DNA, ICICI, IIFL, Axis Bank, Coca-Cola, Infosys, Wipro, Airtel, Berger Paints, Hindustan Times, Decathlon, Thomas Cook, Toyota, IndusInd Bank, Reliance, Just Dial, Videocon, Kotak Securities, Citibank, HDFC Bank, etc. It is clear how diverse the companies that visit the campus are. The only thing left on students is to choose.  A glimpse can be seen through the examples of companies like - FMCG, Banks, Consulting, Infrastructure, Telecom, Hospitality, Pharma, IT, Media, etc.  If the roles offered by these companies were to be divided -  Sector % of students placed Consultancy 14% Sales & Marketing 42% Analytics 11% Other than these major functions, others comprise HR, General Management, Tech, Training and Development, etc.Read more

Ques. How many marks are required in JEE or GUJCET to get admission to PDPU Gandhinagar?

● Top Answer By Arunima Sethi on 14 Jan 21

Ans. The cut-off rank (or score) required for PDPU in JEE or GUJCET changes every year. The corresponding score and rank dependency is also different every year. The expected cut-off ranks for PDPU from JEE Main are listed below. Department JEE Main Cut-off(expected) Petroleum Engineering <56000 Computer Engineering <40000 Information and Communication Technology <52000 Chemical Engineering <65000 Mechanical Engineering <60000 Electrical Engineering <150000 Civil Engineering <150000 Key highlights: The score required varies on the overall performance and difficulty level of the question paper. One of my friends got admission in the Chemical Engineering branch with a 120 cutoff in JEE Main back in 2016. Chemical is among the fastest filling departments along with Petroleum and Computer Science. For GUJCET candidates, a score of around 95 should be sufficient for PDPU. For SC/ST candidates, even 85 would do the same. For JEE Main candidates, 130-150 is considered as a sufficient score for general students for getting the top branches in PDPU. The above ranks and cut-offs are assumptions and can be considered as tentative values.Read more

Ques. What is good in PDPU, chemical or mechanical?

● Top Answer By Rahul Ahuja on 14 Jan 21

Ans. According to the current status of different engineering branches, Chemical Engineering at PDPU is preferred due to a number of reasons stated below. The following table compares certain aspects of the departments stated in PDPU. Particulars Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Total no of seats 60 120 Cut-off Rank (GUJCET) 4307 6025 Placement Rate  85% 96% Average Salary Offered ?3.5 LPA ?4.5 LPA Highest Salary Offered ?16.6 LPA ?10 Lakh Placements: (Winning Department- Chemical Engineering) Chemical Engineering in PDPU has a much better placement rate and a higher maximum salary and average salary offered than Mechanical Engineering. Various companies recruit from Chemical Engineering, varying from Oil, Gas, and even Management Consultancy. NOCIL, Nayara Oil, Coromandal Fertilizer, Reliance, Protiviti Abudhabi, Honeywell UOP, Nirma, and many other MNCs recruit students from the Chemical Engineering branch at PDPU. Due to the lesser number of students in the Chemical branch than in the Mechanical branch at the institute, the competition for placements is quite less in Chemical. Curriculum and Faculty: The course syllabus and subjects in Chemical are easier as compared to Mechanical, in matters of lab and theory papers. You need to study fewer numbers of subjects in Chemical Engineering. Faculties in the Chemical Engineering department are better and can be approached easily in need of curriculum-related or research-based problems. Opportunities: GATE aspirants have a lesser struggle in Chemical Engineering as the overall competition pan India is less as compared to the same in Mechanical. Even at low GRE scores, graduates get the opportunity for higher studies at better colleges abroad for Chemical Engineering, than in Mechanical Engineering. PDPU Chemical Engineering department has received a lot of project grants from DST and research grants from PDPU ORSP to individual students. Therefore, for an overall outcome, the Chemical Engineering department is considered to be a much better option in almost every aspect than Mechanical Engineering in PDPU.Read more

Ques. Which is better for civil, PDPU or Nirma?

● Top Answer By Admin on 14 Jan 21

Ans. Among the above two institutes, Nirma is a better choice for Civil Engineering for an overall balanced set of facilities stated below. The following table gives a brief overview of the two institutes. Particulars PDPU Nirma University Average CTC 2 LPA  6.5 LPA Total Fees (Civil Engineering) 9.36 Lakh 7.24 Lakh Cut-off Rank (GUJCET) 11646 5573 Total No. of Seats 120 135 Advantages - Nirma University: Nirma University recently got an ‘A’ Grade from NAAC Committee. The infrastructure and academic environment of Nirma University are also better than PDPU. You will have a better peer group at Nirma University. The curriculum followed by Nirma University is quite balanced. It offers enough exposure to extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. The university conducts many academic and cultural activities throughout the year. The faculties at the university are skilled and experienced. There are enough opportunities to get involved in research, projects, and publications.  The overall placement record of the university also good. Nirma University has a decent reputation maintained since its establishment. It has a better location as compared to PDPU and transportation facilities are available easily. Nirma has always maintained a good position in fields of research, paper publication, and educational projects. Overall Nirma University is better than PDPU. One of my friends pursued his BTech in Chemical Engineering from the university and had a good experience. However, you can have a successful career from any of these two institutes. So, choose the institute best suited for you. You should talk to the current students and recent pass-outs to get a better idea about the two institutes.Read more

Placement Experience :

Students can seat for the placement from 7th-semester onwards. Everyone has thier different requirements in placement so we cannot comment on the eligibility of students. In Chemical before covid, we have a placement percentage of around 80 percent with an average of 6 l.p.a. and the highest placed student hot 18 lpa in 2019.

Remarks :

Firstly I choose this college because of the big name of Mukesh Ambani because the college is owned by Mukesh Ambani. Currently, I am in my 3rd year in Chemical Engineering and my department is pretty good. PDPU provides a lot of opportunities for research, co-curricular, and cultural activities. For admission you we have 3 quota i.e., for general (35 percent seats), for Gujaratis (50 percent seats), and 15 percent for NRIs. For general you need to clear JEE and For Gujrati you need to clear ACPC and then you have to apply for it and you will be selected on the basis of merit list and by counseling. The only backdrop of PDPU is their fee because their fee is too high for an undergraduate course.

Remarks :

If you want best academic, PDPU has it. If you want some education and some college life enjoyment, PDPU has it. If you want to grow your career just in sports but want to be graduated with less efforts in academics, PDPU has it. If you want pure enjoyment of college life, no education then also PDPU is best in it. But make sure that you or your family are able to pay fees and expenses easily.

Admission :

I got admission from All India Quota as I had decent JEE marks. The process for registration starts in mid June. Students can apply and submit marks, preferred branch/es and details till end of June. In beginning weeks of July, the counseling starts. Based on registration, a merit list is prepared on the basis of JEE marks for All India quota. Student has to go to university on specified date. Then based on your merit rank and students present during counseling, a student will be offered his/her 1st preferred branch. If the seats in 1st preferred branch are full, then the 2nd and so on. If one is eligible for his/her 1st preferred branch, he/she won't be allowed to get admission into other applied branches.

Placement Experience :

From 8th semester students become eligible for campus placements. Major companies like LARSON & TOUBRO Ltd., ONGC, BYJUS, DLF, TATA PROJECTS and many more companies visited for hiring students with 80% of the students getting placed. The highest package offered is about 7-8 lacs per annum and the average package is about 5 lacs per annum. My plans after getting a B.tech degree is to get job as this university provides high chances of getting placed at a better place.

Remarks :

Good aspects are because all the faculties and facilities are really good and very helpful with sound knowledge about the subject they are teaching us and can solve our difficulty at any time. The bad aspect is just the fees which are mammoth in total and is almost impossible to pay for the middle-class families when we include hostel and mess. I took admission here through ACPC rank in round 3 held at LD COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. I preferred this college because one of my relatives suggested it very high in all aspects. I did not go through any blog, forum or website while selecting this college, in fact, I myself visited the college.
