Ans. According to the current status of different engineering branches, Chemical Engineering at PDPU is preferred due to a number of reasons stated below. The following table compares certain aspects of the departments stated in PDPU. Particulars Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Total no of seats 60 120 Cut-off Rank (GUJCET) 4307 6025 Placement Rate 85% 96% Average Salary Offered ?3.5 LPA ?4.5 LPA Highest Salary Offered ?16.6 LPA ?10 Lakh Placements: (Winning Department- Chemical Engineering) Chemical Engineering in PDPU has a much better placement rate and a higher maximum salary and average salary offered than Mechanical Engineering. Various companies recruit from Chemical Engineering, varying from Oil, Gas, and even Management Consultancy. NOCIL, Nayara Oil, Coromandal Fertilizer, Reliance, Protiviti Abudhabi, Honeywell UOP, Nirma, and many other MNCs recruit students from the Chemical Engineering branch at PDPU. Due to the lesser number of students in the Chemical branch than in the Mechanical branch at the institute, the competition for placements is quite less in Chemical. Curriculum and Faculty: The course syllabus and subjects in Chemical are easier as compared to Mechanical, in matters of lab and theory papers. You need to study fewer numbers of subjects in Chemical Engineering. Faculties in the Chemical Engineering department are better and can be approached easily in need of curriculum-related or research-based problems. Opportunities: GATE aspirants have a lesser struggle in Chemical Engineering as the overall competition pan India is less as compared to the same in Mechanical. Ans. Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is a private university based in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat, India, and is approved by AICTE and UGC. The university also has NAAC accreditation with an ‘A’ Grade. The MBA (Masters of Business Administrative) course in PDPU is ranked 74 by the NIRF Rankings that could be considered quite well for all the MBA aspirants willing to take up masters. Academics: Students can opt to take admission in PDPU through the valid score of CAT or XAT exams. Final year/ Final semester students can also apply for both CAT/XAT exams. Scholars applying must have completed the Bachelor’s degree program in any stream from a recognized university or must hold an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, India. Valid for both CAT/XAT. For the CAT exam, general and OBC candidates would require a min of 50% in bachelor degree and 45% for the reserved candidates. The university charges ?8.33 Lakhs for the MBA program. Placement Records: As of the 2019-20 stats, MBA holds an excellent placement record of 87% for its students hired in reputed companies. The table given below gives a brief overview of the university: Course duration 4 years Seats 60 Fees 8 lakhs (approximately) Entrance Exam (for admission to the course) Total marks: 100 ( written test- 50 marks, creative writing- 25 marks and personal interview- 25 marks) Faculty and Academics:- Industrial visits are a major advantage of this course. Students get a chance to gain experiential knowledge. The teachers are Ph.D. qualified and are well trained and encourage research work in various fields including nanotechnology, material science, laser, quantum, etc. and are always ready to guide students. The university issues funds for research work and provides funds for presenting the research nationally as well as internationally. In the Chemical department, we have nice labs which play the most important factor in your placement because all practical knowledge can be gained by labs only. Apart from that, they will provide contact with faculties and if you have any doubt then you can reach them. Faculties are also good if students are dedicated then they will definitely help you as best as they can. We got our schedule for a whole year in the starting thus all the exams and events follow this timeline very strictly. It is not that hard in getting passed in exams we just have to start to buckle up things 2 or 3 weeks before the exam.
