• Top Answer By Shivani Tiwari on 14-Jan-2021

Ans. Discussed below is a list of advantages and disadvantages for NIT Srinagar, going through which you can decide whether it is worth joining or not. Advantages: The campus is situated on the banks of Dal lake and the environment at the campus is quite wonderful. You will have many places to travel to. You will get an NIT tag with your degree and get to enjoy all the perks of studying in an NIT, i.e. Tech Fests, scholarships, etc. You can get admission even with a low JEE Mains rank at NIT Srinagar. The institution offers a month of semester break during the summer for its preparation. And during the winters, they give almost three months of winter vacation due to the extremely low-temperature the place reaches.  Placements are pretty good in the main NIT Srinagar branch. Almost all the students of the ECE, CS, IT, Mechanical branches get placements. Disadvantages: There is no direct railway service to NIT Srinagar. To get to the campus you can take a flight or go 10 km by road from Jammu.  The problem that you may face is obviously the climate if you are not adaptable to extreme cold weather. Another big reason why students take their step back from taking admission in this institution is the political environment there, due to the strikes and protests that go around almost throughout the year, which may somewhat affect the studies of the students.  Due to the bad connectivity and hostile environment, some companies choose not to come for placements. Teaching at the institute is not at the same level as other reputed NITs. Some teachers give preference to local students. Senior teachers are exceptions.  In terms of internship, the institute has a disadvantage. Since most of the internships are during summer and at NIT Srinagar the summer vacation is in July and only for 20-25 days. From the above discussion, you can decide if NIT Srinagar is worth joining or not. To know more about the institute contact any seniors from the college.Read more

Ans. Both courses are entirely different, so it all depends on you and in which field you are more interested in. Both the institutes are well-reputed and offer similar facilities. If you are not particularly interested in a specific branch, you should choose IT.  As a branch, IT has less workload as compared to ECE. The course curriculum and syllabus are also easier for IT.  IT offers more placement opportunities as compared to ECE. NIT Srinagar has a good placement record for IT and CSE and other branches as well. According to the student reviews, the faculties for IT at NIT Srinagar are great. In the final year, the institute offers coaching for GATE from at least 3-4 months before the examination. You will need to complete at least 3-4 projects during your degree. The table below shows information regarding ECE in JMI and IT in NIT Srinagar. Particulars ECE in JMI  IT in NIT Srinagar Average CTC 5-8 LPA 7-8 LPA Placement Rate 80% 75-80% Total Fees INR 64,600 5.3 lakhs   The decision ultimately depends on what you are more passionate about or are looking forward to studying.Read more

Ans. For studying Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), NIT Srinagar is better than DY Patil Akurdi in many ways, starting from its placements to the standard of education that they provide. The table below gives a brief overview of the two institutes. Particulars DY Patil NIT Srinagar Total Fees  INR 3.10 Lakh INR 5.30 Lakh Average Salary Offered  INR 3.75 LPA INR 11 LPA Top Recruiters Virtusa, Capgemini, Wipro IBM, Samsung, Infosys, L&T Reasons to choose NIT Srinagar for CSE over DY Patil are as follows.  NIT CSE has good faculties for CSE. The lab facilities at the institute are quite good. The placement rate for CSE at the institute is almost 100%. In 2015, a CSE student got placements with a salary package of 72 lakhs. The NIT tag you receive with your degree will offer certain advantages. NIT is always better compared to other colleges for a degree. However, it will be better if you talk to the alumni or the current students before making a decision.Read more

Ans. Between the given institute NIT Srinagar is definitely better in every term. The table below gives a brief highlight of the two NITs. Particulars NIT Srinagar NIT Uttarakhand Average CTC INR 9-10 LPA INR 3.3-5.5 LPA Average Course Fee INR 9 LPA INR 6.8 LPA Popular Courses BTech, MTech, MSc, PhD, Mphil BTech, MTech, PhD Entrance Accepted BTech- JEE Main, MTech- GATE, MSc- IIT JAM UG- JEE, PG/Ph.D.- GATE Some of the reasons why you should choose NIT Srinagar over NIT Uttarakhand are discussed below. NIT Srinagar is ranked 201 for Engineering by NIRF 2020. Whereas NIT Uttarakhand has no NIRF’20 ranking. Which should answer your question. NIT Uttarakhand does not have a good placement record. The highest salary package offered at the institute hardly goes up to 5-7 LPA. Even though NIT Uttarakhand has shifted its campus to the MNIT Jaipur Satellite campus, it still lags behind NIT Srinagar in most aspects. If you do not have any personal reason to join NIT Uttarakhand, it will be better to go for NIT Srinagar.Read more
