Ans. Discussed below is a list of advantages and disadvantages for NIT Srinagar, going through which you can decide whether it is worth joining or not. Advantages: The campus is situated on the banks of Dal lake and the environment at the campus is quite wonderful. You will have many places to travel to. You will get an NIT tag with your degree and get to enjoy all the perks of studying in an NIT, i.e. Tech Fests, scholarships, etc. You can get admission even with a low JEE Mains rank at NIT Srinagar. The institution offers a month of semester break during the summer for its preparation. And during the winters, they give almost three months of winter vacation due to the extremely low-temperature the place reaches. Placements are pretty good in the main NIT Srinagar branch. Almost all the students of the ECE, CS, IT, Mechanical branches get placements. Disadvantages: There is no direct railway service to NIT Srinagar. To get to the campus you can take a flight or go 10 km by road from Jammu. The problem that you may face is obviously the climate if you are not adaptable to extreme cold weather. Another big reason why students take their step back from taking admission in this institution is the political environment there, due to the strikes and protests that go around almost throughout the year, which may somewhat affect the studies of the students. Due to the bad connectivity and hostile environment, some companies choose not to come for placements. Teaching at the institute is not at the same level as other reputed NITs. Some teachers give preference to local students. Senior teachers are exceptions. In terms of internship, the institute has a disadvantage. Since most of the internships are during summer and at NIT Srinagar the summer vacation is in July and only for 20-25 days. From the above discussion, you can decide if NIT Srinagar is worth joining or not. To know more about the institute contact any seniors from the college.Read more
