Ans. Since we are looking at different specializations, it is best to opt for a specialization that interests you before choosing a desirable college. Comparison - Courses: Both Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) courses are highly sought after in India. If you are interested in further studies after completing Bachelors in Technology or getting into Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) then Electronics is a better choice. Placement opportunities in the Computer Science and Engineering branch are far better. So, choose the branch wisely. Comparison - Institutes: Most people are unaware of the fact that IIITs are way older than NITs. IIITs focuses specifically on the study of Information Technology which is not the case for NITs. Some of the IIITs, Allahabad, Jabalpur, Kancheepuram, Gwalior, are institutes of national interest similar to the reputed NITs. Now, let’s take a look at the courses mentioned in the question. Course Closing Cutoff Fees Average CTC IIIT Jabalpur CSE 15620 5.29 lakhs 9.9 LPA NIT Jamshedpur ECE 14149 7.16 lakhs 8 LPA NIT Kurukshetra ECE 18724 2. 36 lakhs 8.24 LPA NIT Raipur CSE 11517 5.52 lakhs 9.5 LPA NIT Hamirpur ECE 47987 5. 84 lakhs 6.78 LPA NIT Jalandhar CSE 10800 3.52 lakhs 8.57 LPA Judging by the academics and placement opportunities, the preference order of the institutes should be- NIT Jalandhar CSE > IIIT Jabalpur CSE > NIT Raipur CSE> NIT Kurukshetra ECE > NIT Hamirpur ECE > NIT Jamshedpur ECE. However, before choosing an institute do your own research, visit the official website of the institutes to know more. Also, do not judge a college solely based on the opening and closing rank for the course you want to pursue. Examine the other aspects of that college too before choosing.Read more
